A Rifleman Went To War
by Herbert W. McBride

“Not only is his honest (as opposed to ‘politically correct’) account refreshing, but informative as well…I recommend it highly!” -towSaint

From childhood Herbert W. McBride was familiar with rifles, at first watching his father prepare for the hunt, later learning the game himself: he was destined to become a Rifleman.

Growing up in Indiana, surrounded by veterans of the Civil War, he followed his father and his father before him into a military life, rising in time to become a Captain.

“Missing” two conflicts, when war was declared in 1914 a burning curiosity to find out what a “real war” was like led McBride to resign his commission and head to Canadian forces.

Assigned to the 38th Battalion, upon finding out it was slated for garrison duties he transferred to the 21st Battalion, fearing war’s end before he could taste the fire of battle.

As a Private in the Machine Gun Section, a rifle always on his shoulder, McBride served in France and Belgium from September 1915 to April 1917.

Weaving his experiences and observations into a gripping narrative, his account of his time in the Canadian Corps offers fascinating insight into the role of a Rifleman in WWI.

McBride’s emphasis on the use of the military rifle in sniping, its place in modern armament, and the work of the individual soldier is as valuable as the insight given into soldiers’ minds.

Award-Winning Author

Because people like this are out there. Oh yes, they are.

Five brand new contemporary thrillers that will have you bolted to the edge of your seat. The theme linking all of these visceral stories is bad people – their motivations, their victims, how they get their comeuppance, and how – just sometimes – they don’t.

Juked‘ tells the story of Neeta Shah’s healthy cycle trip, and how it takes a very unhealthy turn, resulting in a cat and mouse battle of wits along the Pacific Highway.

In ‘Desert Rat‘ it’s Danny Freemont’s final business trip – his last chance to ‘see a little of the real country’. It quickly descends into a dry-throat nightmare where hope is in short supply.

In ‘A.B.C.‘ a liaison between Shannon and Tyson is not quite what it seems. It all just has to go horribly wrong for one of them. But which one?

Jack Slave‘ is a tale of a bully who simply won’t seem to go away, and the drastic action that just has to be taken.

The final tale, ‘Crowe Ridge‘, tells the story of how a person’s tainted history can come back to haunt them in the cruellest of ways.

Anna has never been the beautiful one; she’s always been the nice one. So when the gorgeous man sitting across the table at a wedding reception remembers her from high school—and quite fondly at that—she’s taken off guard.

Formerly overweight and unpopular, Kiran has never forgotten Anna, the one person who was kind to him when no one else could be bothered, and Anna’s a bit flustered as she slowly comes to grips with his intense attraction for her.

In what feels like a romantic dream come true, all-grown-up, hunky Kiran invites Anna on a trip to Varanasi. But her troubled, whack-a-do ex-boyfriend starts interfering, creating drama at every turn, which begs the question, “Can nice girls really finish first?”
