At the age of twenty, George Ritchie died in an Army hospital. Nine minutes later, he returned to life. What happened to him during those minutes was so compelling that it changed his life forever. In Return from Tomorrow, Ritchie tells of his transforming encounter with the Son of God, who led him to encounters with other nonphysical beings at the very doorway of eternity.
Ritchie’s extraordinary experience not only altered his view of eternity, but it has also altered the lives of hundreds of thousands of readers. One of the most startling and hopeful descriptions of the realm beyond, this classic will inspire readers from all walks of life. It includes a brand-new preface from Elizabeth Sherrill.

In Paris, the refuge of all scorned artists, young Alexandre Guilbert struggles to live a bohemian life, skirting the fringes of madness, living on charity and helping others, indulging every whim from cross-dressing to public nudity. Painter and photographer, husband and lover, creator and destroyer, his excesses and extravagances border on the absurd. His need for identity without personality inspires the outrage of proper society, and he cannot survive his own freedom. But will he leave a legacy, despite all efforts to the contrary?

THE LAST DECADENT casts an aggressive eye on the darkness which engulfs the City of Lights, as the glories of La Belle Epoque disintegrate into plagues of liberalism, neuroticism, and anarchy. Guilbert’s story is told through the six people who exert the strongest influence on his life: demimonde lover, melancholic wife, mad friend, unscrupulous dealer, notorious seductress, and the arrogant journalist who studies Guilbert’s decadence, and is changed by what he learns.

The Five Elements (The Alchemancer: Book 1)
by Scott Marlowe
Rating: 4.4 Stars
Genre: Fantasy
Price: $0.00 Save $2.99

Aaron–scholar, alchemist, and sorcerer’s apprentice–wants nothing more than to study his tomes, perform his experiments, and spend time with his closest friend, Shanna. Substitute the occasional romp about the city for the books and plenty of games of crutchit for the smelly alchemicals, and Shanna is just fine with that, too.

Their routines–and their lives–are thrown into chaos when an elemental attack is launched against their home. Aaron thinks Shanna killed, while Aaron himself is forced to flee for his life. For Shanna, who survives that fateful night, the greatest adventure of her life is about to begin. Only the worst of nightmares awaits Aaron: pursued by dwarves, hell hounds, and a demon who will not stop until he is dead, the only thing keeping him alive is his own resourcefulness and an eslar mercenary whose reputation as a killer might make him the worst threat of all.

Though Aaron and Shanna travel different paths, their purpose is joined when they individually learn of the mysterious Fifth Element. Shanna sees it as the final piece in the puzzle that is her destiny. To Aaron’s logical mind, it is an impossible ambiguity. Whatever the answer, the Fifth Element draws them back together and into a final confrontation not as allies, but as adversaries.

How To Make Cornish Pasties (Authentic English Recipes)
by Geoff Wells
Genre: Cooking, Food & Wine

Yes there is an official Cornish pasty recipe and it is included here along with a US English translation. By European law this is the only pasty that can be called a Cornish Pasty and even then only if it is made in Cornwall. So, unless you happen to live in Cornwall, you will just have to call it something else. If you insist on calling it a Cornish Pastry and one day two burly tin miners with strange accents show up on your doorstep, all I can say is, “You were warned!”

My mother’s pasty recipe was different so I included that as the Unofficial Cornish Pasty Appetizers. But there is so much more you can do, and I have done, with the pasty idea that I thought you might like to try some of the variations I’ve come up with over the years.
