Phineas (Ordinal)
by Joseph Gellene
Rating: 4.0 Stars
Category: Fantasy/Short Story
Price: $0.00 Save $0.99

Phineas is a short (2600 word) story covering a very brief moment on the life of an Ordinal. Ordinals experience linear time for brief periods; they have no control over when and where they’ll jump next but they’ve developed ways to manage their lives and remain undetected by Linears.

I wrote this several years ago. I had just finished reading a collection of short stories from the 1930’s and 40’s. The style might be a bit old-fashioned for some. I had considered altering it for a more modern style but decided that the speaker was from an older time and would therefore speak as such.
