Delaney Brannigan and Blake Morrisson met at the Cedar Cove annual costume dance, known only to each other as the leopard and the cowboy–but, as Delaney soon discovers, the cowboy she’d thought had ridden off into the sunset never to tempt her again, is none other than the man she came from New York to find and discredit. Against her will, Delaney is drawn deeper and deeper into an overwhelming attraction to Blake–an attraction she can’t give in to if she wants to keep the one thing she values more than anything else.

Blake has spent months trying to find the son he never knew he had until a chance encounter with an old friend. Finding the boy has been the only thing he cared about–that is until Delaney Brannigan came to town. Now the bewitching woman has him thinking he might have finally found the one woman who could make him want to settle down.

When the private investigator hired to find Blake’s son shows up to tell Blake he’s located the boy, Delaney’s hopes and dreams are shattered and Blake discovers she’s not at all what she seemed.
Will these two lovers lose one another in a web of deception, or will the small town boy and the girl from New York find a way to trust their hearts and find a once in a lifetime happiness?

Individuals in today’s culture rarely think about the need to make responsible choices concerning the sounds they listen to. Most people are usually unaware of the affect of sound, its benefits and its detriments. Silence, the absence of sound, is not in style these days and can even be difficult to find. Western culture conditions us to be comfortable with noise and crowds, not with silence and solitude. Turning OFF Noise: Tuning IN to Healthy Sound will offer you ideas for making responsible “sound” choices, including times of refreshment with God!

Albert Shipway is an ordinary guy, an insurance negotiator who likes booze and women and never having to say he’s sorry.

And he thinks this is just another day, another lunch, another order of kung pao chicken. Little does he know that he’s about to meet a little old lady who knows his greatest fear. A little old lady who knows what’s hiding in his heart. A little old lady who dishes up a big stew of supernatural revenge, with ingredients as follows: First you take one psychotic ex from a family of serial killers. Next add a pinch or two of an irrational childhood fear. Now thoroughly mix in an angry sister, a life-stealing great-granddad, and a notorious mass murderer—who happens to be dead but doesn’t know it. Let it stew and froth and bubble thoroughly….

In just a matter of minutes, Albert’s life turns upside down and he enters a world where magic and evil lurk beneath the fabric of Southern California. And all his choices have brewed a perfect storm of broken hearts, broken promises, shattered families, and a couple of tiny problems. Namely, killer mice and a baby.

Albert Shipway is finally getting a chance to right some wrongs.

That is, if it’s not too late.

The Mountain of Marvels: A Celtic Tale

A thousand years ago, in the Celtic kingdoms of Wales, great lords gave great feasts for their fighting men and courtiers. In timbered halls, for days on end, heaps of meat and bread were washed down with gallons of beer and mead. And in between the meals, when bellies were stuffed and spirits high, the storyteller rose and spun his tales of times long past.

He told of lords, bold and generous. He told of ladies, grand and glorious. He told of friends, brave and faithful. But of all he told about, no friend was more reliable than Manawydan, son of Llyr. No lady was more admirable than Rhiannon. And no lord was more honorable than Pwyll, King of Dyfed.

The halls are now long gone — yet some tales were written down and gathered in a book we call today The Mabinogion. And so the tales live on. . . .

For ages 10 and up.

Titanic: Illustrated Poem In Remembrance of The Sinking

April, 2012 – The 100th anniversary of the Collision of the RMS Titanic with an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean. It is hard to believe that it has been 100 years since the disaster. The last of the survivors is long gone, but due to the movies and books that have been made over the years, the discovery of the actual wreckage on the bottom of the ocean, as well as the traveling and permanent exhibits around the world, this horrible disaster remains in the hearts and minds of all. The year of the publication of this book, 2012, is the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.

I found a beautiful poem that was written in 1913 by Horace Greeley that is a stunning example of literature written at the beginning of the 20th Century – in fact, the year following the disaster. I’m sure that the tragedy was still very fresh on the minds of those who lived at that time.

Being an aficionado of everything Titanic-related, I was surprised that I had not heard of this piece before. I read this epic poem through in one sitting and was so very moved by the passion in the words and I felt like it was still a recent happening.

I decided to illustrate the poem with actual pictures from the event as well as photos taken prior to the first (and only) voyage. When I re-read the poem afterwards, not only had I spent a rather large amount of time researching the art and photos but I set it aside for a few days when it was completed.

What kinds of things did children do in Victorian times that was different from those activities of children today?

Since “Abroad” was written in the 1880’s the world has changed drastically. Both London and Paris – and the cities of Boulogne, Rouen, Caen, and Paris and then on to Calais – all played very big roles in the two major wars of the Twentieth Century. From Normandy, where Calais is located, the site of the D-Day invasion in WWII, to the occupation of Paris by the Nazis. London was bombed regularly by the Germans and remarkably, some of the most beautiful landmarks remain unscathed for all people who are living today to enjoy. The similarities are startling while the different experiences are not as obvious, other than the modes of dress and the transportation available then and now. I have added current photos of many of the places visited by the children. If they were to arrive in France today, so many of these landmarks would be totally familiar to our Victorian children!
