Caroline Carlisle loved Simon from the moment she first laid eyes on him when she was nine years old. Unfortunately, he married her older sister, and thus set a southern family on a collision course with its past. After the death of her sister that makes Simon a widow, the two finally marry and attempt to make a family with Simon’s daughter Jodi. Jodi has other ideas, and they don’t include welcoming a new step-mother who also happens to be her aunt.

As Caroline starts to report on the oil spill threatening the sea turtles on Florida’s Panhandle beaches, she begins to uncover the secret of her own mother’s past, which includes her brother’s suicide and a teenage pregnancy. With Caroline’s sharpened reporter skills, she digs until she brings all the secrets to light, including her own.

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

What a great (and very educational) story! It was well written, of course, but I particularly like the switches between essentially two story lines that come together. The personal story was well developed and had those little surprises here and there. Just a thoroughly good read. I definitely would recommend it to anyone.

The story line was very entertaining! It is amazing how the author guides the reader through all the intricate details of the plot and many sub-plots. I enjoyed how the layers of family history, tragedies, and challenges were intertwined. I would love to read a sequel to “Trails in the Sand”.

A story that brings you in because just about everyone with a family can relate to it. This is a book you won’t be able to put down. Buy it and enjoy the mastery of PC Zick!

Loved everything about this story…the characters, the intertwining plot lines, the locations. Ms. Zick brought threads together and made a whole cloth. There’s so much that happens you will not be bored.

Ms. Zick has written a novel in Trails in the Sand that unravels several generations of family secrets in a background of very real environmental disasters. The story is sad at times, happy at times, funny at times and extremely educational on several levels. More, more! Ms. Zick. And thank you for an excellent read.

She believes in living lightly upon this earth with love, laughter, and passion, and through her fiction she imparts this philosophy in an entertaining manner with an obvious love for her characters, plot, and themes.

Can’t beat $.99 for any read! I use to get my ebooks. It works great for me as I only have to pay for the books if I want to, and then I only have to pay what I feel they are worth. It works out well, although I think at times I end up overpaying for books that I think are really good, so at least the authors make a buck!
