Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

This is an excellent book. It is imaginative, funny, heartwarming, and all around fun. Although the main character is a 13 year old girl, the story translates beautifully for kids of all ages. I read it all the way through and loved it (as an adult) and am reading it a chapter at a time w/my 4 year old and she LOVES it!!! The illustrations are wonderful as well. I highly recommend this book to everyone. It is an excellent family reading adventure, especially for summer time!!

I read this book in one sitting; it is a fun and fast paced read with a tight plot and a surprise ending! I teach Reading Writing Workshop for 6th grade middle school;I highly recommend this book to both middle school and elementary school age students.

I really enjoyed reading this book! I am planning on giving a copy to my daughter who is 8 years old and I feel the authors really made a fantasy book that she will cherish for years to come. The book was very easy to read and the illustrations were very well drawn. Everything about this book was fun and it was a great time taking a break to just lose myself in this story like I know other kids and adults like me will. Time for a another book guys!

This fast paced adventure novel is a great read for those kids out there who want to move on to chapter books. It is also a great book to read to the kids on a family night. The fun illustrations really help to bring the book and characters to life. It was a fun read and one that will make the kids want to pick it up again and again!

This book can reach everyone, very creative and a fun read. The Pirate theme makes it even better for girls that are not into all the girly stuff, like babysitter’s club and all. Illustrations are spot on and such a great read. I’ll get copies for my wife’s class and the library. Highly recommended.

About The Author

The good fortune of publishing a book came about through the process of being a dad. Ryan has written numerous stories for his two children, Kyle and Anna, but it wasn’t until he heard his daughter’s idea for a story that he took action.

“The Pirate Bride” was co-written by Ryan and Anna and published in May 2010, and is beautifully illustrated by Jerry Bennett (

Ryan was born in Concord, CA to goodly parents. He started high school in Folsom, CA, finally graduating from Redmond High in Redmond, WA. He married his high school sweetheart and then graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science in Speech Language Pathology (but only after first taking a swing at a BFA in Film).

In 2007, Ryan co-wrote, directed, produced and starred in a traveling comedy show that brought the humor and mystery of Ghostbusters to many sci-fi/comic book conventions across the South/Southeast. This he did in conjunction with GBTV–Ghostbusters Television: All Ghostbusters, All the Time (, a YouTube channel devoted to Ghostbuster spoofs and parodies.

Passions of his include writing, acting, woodworking, charity work with JediOKC, prop building, and film. And stained glass window making, catapults, and travel. And making music with his band, Corn Beef Justice.

Ryan and Anna are visiting schools across the region, sharing the magic behind the creation of their first book, and showing to students of all ages that if you can imagine “it”, you can accomplish “it”.
