When Mark Waters decided to be a detective, he didn’t plan to investigate ghosts.

As he sifts through evidence of a supposed suicide by train, though, he learns a murder that took place eighty years ago may directly affect his case.

Six months after the strange occurrences at The Depot, there’s another murder. This time, The Library holds secrets of several murders, and the dead won’t rest until the murderer checks out too.

Note: The Library (Where Life Checks Out) is a 50k-word follow-up novel to The Depot (When Life and Death Cross Tracks), which is included in this special edition so readers who haven’t read The Depot won’t miss anything. The first edition was published December 2013. While there have been a few updates, this is the original story. Happy reading!

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

The book is very well written and the characters are very likeable, even the ones who aren’t suppose to be. There’s imagination to put into this book, it doesn’t get boring and monotonous, it holds your interest and takes you on a roller coaster ride. But in the end it all woks out and comes together, leaving you wanting to know more!

DeSousa lays out just enough info to keep you turning the pages…and wondering ‘how?’ ‘who?’ and ‘why?’. This reader missed the culprit. Oh well, that’s because DeSousa is a talented author who knows how to slowly unwind the vines from the tree.

Thought I had it all figured out. Wrong. Carmen has done it to me again. Would love to see this on the small or big screen. It’s that good!

Once again, she keeps you guessing until the end. Great job, Carmen! Well done! Can’t wait to see if Detective Waters continues to solve crimes with his unique ‘friends’ and his ability to the puzzle pieces together.

Carmen DeSousa sure knows how to write a fantastic mystery that kept me second guessing my choices of the killer until the very end. When I arrived, all out of breath and confused by the wild ride, I was shocked. And that is the exact way a well written mystery should make you feel–out of breath and mouth agape.

About The Author

A romantic-suspense writer, my stories overflow with romance, mystery, suspense, a hint of paranormal sometimes, and of course, tragedy. After all, what would a great story be without a tragic event setting the stage? All of my novels are sensual, but not erotic, gripping but not graphic and will make you cry, laugh, love, and hope. Although some of my titles clearly include supernatural or ghostly beings, my writing dances on the edge of the paranormal, in a genre referred to as magical realism. My hope is that as you read my stories, you’ll wonder, “Hmmm…what if?”

As most authors, I blame my leap into a full-time career as a professional writer on my love of reading. Reading has always been an escape for me. When life was rough as a child, I could always disappear into a book. But I found something else too… I discovered that writing out my thoughts was healing. Not only could I create hope for my protagonists, but I could do away with the antagonists–legally.

When I penned my first novel, ‘She Belongs to Me’, I allowed only my cousin and best friend to read it. They are the reason I write. They pushed me to publish, as they felt my stories would give others who’ve experienced tragedies hope. So now, even though I still write for me, I mainly write for my readers who continually encourage me that my words touched their soul.

Most of my novels share some of my favorite hobbies, mostly, anything to do with the great outdoors. I rarely spend my days off at a movie theatre or the mall. In fact, I hate shopping, and my hubby would prefer to do anything other than take me to a movie that I’d already read the book. Also, we both would rather read a book on the beach–or a coffee shop if it’s raining–and if the weather is really nice, we love to go kayaking and hiking.

Thank you for considering today’s Book Of The Day – Carmen DeSousa and ENT appreciate it.
