“I read this on a whim when I was searching for something cheap and entertaining to read. Often those things are hard to find in one place, but Ms. Buroker does not disappoint with The Emperor’s Edge. The book is a great length, it’s easy enough to read and definitely pulls you in. Ms. Buroker creates a marvelous world that is absolutely enthralling. I couldn’t wait to buy the second and third books in the series and find anything else she had written.” maz46 – Amazon Reviewer

Imperial law enforcer Amaranthe Lokdon is good at her job: she can deter thieves and pacify thugs, if not with a blade, then by toppling an eight-foot pile of coffee canisters onto their heads. But when ravaged bodies show up on the waterfront, an arson covers up human sacrifices, and a powerful business coalition plots to kill the emperor, she feels a tad overwhelmed.

Worse, Sicarius, the empire’s most notorious assassin, is in town. He’s tied in with the chaos somehow, but Amaranthe would be a fool to cross his path. Unfortunately, her superiors order her to hunt him down. Either they have an unprecedented belief in her skills… or someone wants her dead.

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

With tight, clean writing, crackling dialog and a lot of spunk, Buroker’s tale is fun, fast-moving and engrossing. The characters are well-drawn, the world intriguing. With a hint of magic and romance, The Emperor’s Edge is an entertaining read.

There’s only one problem with this book series…I simply cannot get enough! The Emperor’s Edge has fabulous characters, a believable script and storyline, a perfect blend of fantasy and steampunk and keeps the pages turning with unexpected twists, epic battles and a hint of romance. I recommend the Emperor’s Edge to any male or female who enjoys the fantasy genre…I can’t wait till someone makes a movie of this book!

This is a great book. I read through it in two sittings and am getting the next books. The characters are very good, quirky I guess would be a good description. They are believable and have good depth. There is a good mix of humor and action. The fantasy element is kept to a minimum and is only used to enhance the story. My wife really liked this book and she does not usually go for the fantasy genre. The Emperor’s Edge is written very well and I look forward to reading the rest of the series. Buroker is exactly the kind of author I hope to see more of with the introduction of digital publishing.

I cant believe this book is free. It is better than most books I have read by professional writers and their over-priced crap. This is a great book. It has it all: fast-paced action, interesting world, characters you will love, mystery plot to keep you hooked, and a surprisingly awesome female-lead. Get this book. It’s worth it.

I really really enjoyed this book! It was very exciting and I could not wait to buy the second! The author has done a wonderful job of keeping me on the hook for however many books she writes, to the detriment to my wallet and family! This is a book worth reading.

About The Author

I’ve been writing fantasy novels and short stories since I was seven. I’ve been finishing them since… well, that’s a more recent development.

I’m a professional blogger for my day job, and I live in the Seattle area with two vizslas who are as spoiled as most people’s kids. Occasionally they let me leave the house to play tennis, visit the coffee shop, take a yoga class, or plot with co-conspirators on how best to take over the world. (One of those items may be untrue, but I won’t tell you which.)

Thank you for considering today’s Book Of The Day – Lindsay Buroker and ENT appreciate it.

Started reading her books earlier in 2011 and now Lindsay Buroker is my 2nd Favorite Author!! Book 4 came out a month ago & I’m counting down the days until book 5 is published.
This series is adventurous, full of laugh out loud moments, full of strategies, action, and mysteries. Each Secondary character gets a POV in the series eventually, which makes all the characters seem so alive!!

+ You have to read her Flash Gold Series. Not as long as the EE books, but just as entertaining 🙂

I love this series Emperor’s Edge, and the other seiries by her is awesome too. Her novella Encrypted is also no less. I started with the short story Ice Cracker, which is an extra from the sequel. I love the little story and couldn’t do anything else but to track down the book. When I figured out it was a sequel instead, I’m already really deep into it. The story is excellent. The suspense is never the same and the fun moment cracked me to the core. If you are looking for some crazy adventure, don’t miss this. Oh and did I mention the protagonist? Yeah, he’s the cold blooded assassin your parents would never let you hear of. So of course, what are you waiting for? Go look for him. 😉
