Soccer mom, Barbara Marr, just found monkeys in her trees and a severed human head in her neighbor’s basement. Could her day get any worse? When she gets a little too snoopy for her own good . . . you betcha it does!

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

Karen Cantwell’s novel is one of the best comedic mysteries I’ve read. Her writing is flawless and her heroine is quirky and endearing. I’m really looking forward to another Barbara Marr mystery.

I love this book! Karen Cantwell has given us everything we could want in a novel: mystery, romance and humor. Not to mention the fantastic heroine, Barbara Marr, who is as vulnerable as she is courageous, and as determined as she is comical. Though confronted with everything from possible infidelity to an old love to gangsters in her garden, Barbara just sticks out her chin and sallies forth. But humor is what really makes Monkeys special. You’ll read it once for the mystery, and twice more for the laughs! If you read this book and you don’t laugh out loud, you should have your funny bone examined. 😉

I LOL through the entire thing…actually, that’s an understatement. I LMAO and will never, ever EVER think of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) in quite the same way.

I can’t wait for the next book in this series!

Karen Cantwell is now on my Auto-Buy Everything-She-Writes, One-Click-Buy Trigger-Finger List!

This was so much fun to read. Something unexpected around every corner. Zany and fun, a really wild ride. I highly recommend.

About The Author

I have been writing plays and short stories for many years, some of which were published in various college literary magazines. More recently, my short story “The Recollections of Rosabelle Raines,” was published in the mystery anthology Chesapeake Crimes: They Had it Comin’ available at

My first novel, TAKE THE MONKEYS AND RUN, is a comedy-mystery, inspired, to some degree by a true monkey sighting in my own neighborhood. Because I love to laugh as well as make other people laugh, I have great fun writing the characters Barbara Marr, her friends and her adversaries. When I set out to write this book, I knew I wanted to write something that readers would say, “Now that was FUN.” I HOPE I have achieved that goal. And if I did, please feel free to drop me a line at and let me know! I love to hear from readers. (especially if they LIKE the book!)

I’ve recently released a new book called Foxy’s Tale, co-written with my friend LB Gschwandtner. This is the first in a planned chick-lit series. And yes, I’m working on a second Barbara Marr novel, CITIZEN INSANE. You can find out more about these upcoming books at my website, I hope you’ll stop by!

Again, thank you for stopping by!

Thank you for considering today’s Book Of The Day – Karen Cantwell and ENT appreciate it.
