It’s been thirteen years since the last Siren attack, and some say the deadly aquatic creatures are gone for good. Giselle’s ballet-obsessed family knows better. Now, a production of the ballet Giselle was named for is drawing the vain creatures back and this time, Giselle knows they’re coming for her.

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

I adore Cidney Swanson’s work. I’ve read her two very different (and completely awesome) series and now this wonderful entertaining standalone story. She works as beautifully in the fantasy genre as in the sci figure genre. Ms. Swanson, I love your writing. Please don’t stop. I can’t wait for whatever you choose to share with us next.

Cidney Swanson is one of my favorite unsung authors, and continues to live up to that reputation with this astounding foray into selkie/siren lore. Sparkling with perfect world-building, outstanding characterization and spot-on setting detail, this book is a feast for anyone who loves theater, dance, mythology, strong sibling relationships, romance, teen angst, or fantasy.

I just finished this book, and I’m still trying to sort through all I feel, other than that I really enjoyed it. I read through this book very quickly. I was sucked in right away and had a hard time putting it down.

Once again, Ms. Swanson knocks it out of the park. Her writing style is outstanding, and makes this such an interesting story. But she makes the reader feel the story. I highly recommend this book.

Overall I loved the book. The sirens were very interesting and real, and the ballet and drama society was interesting too. There is a lot of character development, specially for the main character, which can be hard to do in a stand alone book. Also, I believe it has a good message and view upon forgiveness, and it shows how hard it can be to forgive at times, while it is sometimes easier to resent. That struggle is portrayed well, and I loved it!

About The Author

Hi there! My name is Cidney and I’m a full time writer of young adult science fiction and fantasy novels. I’m easily distracted by shiny things such as new book covers, macarons in glass jars, and Mars set against an inky night sky. My year so far has included learning to milk goats, baking thirteen pies for friends who wanted Wedding Pie instead of Cake, and finding myself speaking before a large group while wearing navy tights with a black dress. (My dress wasn’t navy???) If you’d like to visit, I hang out at where I natter on about this and that, assuming I haven’t been distracted by something shiny. I live in Oregon’s Willamette Valley with my husband, three kids, a dog, and two cats and entirely too much rain.

Thank you for considering today’s Book Of The Day – Cidney Swanson and ENT appreciate it.
