Shatter the Silence is the romantic and long-awaited sequel by Daleen Berry. The sequel to Sister of Silence, Ms. Berry’s 2011 breakout memoir about surviving abuse, Shatter the Silence takes place in Preston County, West Virginia.

This romantic memoir weaves accounts of the true crimes Ms. Berry covered while working as a news reporter with details of her divorce, her ex-husband’s ongoing harassment following their divorce, and finally, her love affair with the police detective who became first, a colleague, then a friend, and ultimately, the man who helped save her life.

Readers will weep as they learn about the collateral damage Ms. Berry and her four children sustained, following ten years trapped in a violent marriage. They will cheer when they see her refusal to live the rest of her life as a victim, and will be overjoyed when Ms. Berry realizes she has, as a single mother of four at the age of 27, fallen in love for the very first time. Finally, Ms. Berry’s loyal fans will be moved by the tender, intimate moments she shares, as they join this award-winning author on her journey to love and healing.

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

One thing readers will learn from this book is to always wear your seatbelt! So before you open the first page, put on your seatbelt for an extraordinary ride. An interesting, quick-reading, engaging memoir of a loving relationship for anyone who believes: Love will find a way!

What an amazing read! This story is through the authors eyes. Her story and it is a story like no other. Daleen Berry is a beautiful write with a beautiful gift to write. Her story also shows that once doesn’t mean you have to stay down. She over came and became the strong and amazing woman she is today.

Clearly written from the heart and displays Ms. Berry’s courage and strength. Her writing is so personable and allows you to relate to her every emotion. It is a therapeutic read for all who have experience domestic and/or sexual abuse. She is a truly gifted writer and I am a big fan of her work.

Shatter the Silence brings to life the fact that people can overcome abuse to love again, and goes a very long way in removing the stigmas that used to come with asking for help. Another moving book by Daleen.
