A former USC football player back in the day, Burnside has recently left the LAPD following a scandal and has started his own private investigation agency. After someone fires a shot at a football star from a rival university, Burnside takes on the case which leads him into both the underbelly and the aristocracy of Los Angeles.

Burnside unravels a complex series of baffling leads as he weaves his way through the investigation. As the body count piles up, he encounters beautiful girls, wayward athletes and overworked cops on his way to cracking a case that no one else wants to touch. And as he works through the various twists and turns in the story, Burnside also comes to grips with a betrayal from his past that keeps returning to him, no matter how much he tries to avoid it.

Set against the sun drenched backdrop of a hot Los Angeles summer, Post Pattern provides readers with a taut, engaging mystery. The novel delivers a smart, sexy plot with crackling dialogue and fascinating characters.

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

Post Pattern is a fast paced, intelligently written murder mystery novel about a private investigator with lots of Southern California landmarks, football talk, and an intriguing sprinkling of prostitutes, police work, and a budding relationship. Well done! When do we get to read the next one?

I needed a normal, likeable P.I. story to read and this one “hit the spot”. I had just read some really deep stuff so I was looking for a story that was true to life with some normal characters. I really appreciate the lack of vulgarities and explicit sex scenes that some books seem to have to have to get their readers. I appreciate the author for not reducing himself to such. Good story, good characters, worth the read!

The title grabbed my attention, so I scanned a few pages, and before I knew it, I was caught up in the plot. The humor is really good, and the College Football backdrop gives the book an interesting twist. A great murder mystery with a larger than life, but still believable, main character.

David Chill is a writer to keep on your alert list! The characters are fun, dialogue is perfect, great pacing–I loved this book. I hope he keeps writing the Burnside mysteries!

Well-written and researched from Grid Iron to LA scenes, the seedy side to the posh. You will feel yourself riding down the streets with Burnside as he plays with your mind and takes you through the maze of clues. You’ll be begging for more Burnside when you finish this one!
