Madame Koska’s First Adventure!

Here she is, the elusive, enigmatic, undefeatable Madame Koska, who can solve a crime and run an establishment of magnificent haute couture with equal success. Who is she? What is her first name? Who was M. Koska? Where did she learn her trade? It must be Paris but she has a Russian name… where does she get her lovely mannequins? Does she smoke a cigarette stuck in a long ebony cigarette holder?

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

Ms. Arbel has a wonderful imagination and the ability to transport a reader back to London of the 1920s. You not only read this novel, you see the settings and characters. Yeah, it’s that good. Highly recommended.

It’s charming, sweet and full of fabulous clothes. I adored Madame Koska and I recommend that readers of cozy mysteries make an appointment to spend an evening in her company. The descriptions of the clothes and the atelier are priceless. I can see this as the start of a lovely series.

Ilil Arbel demonstrates her superb gift for writing in Madame Koska and the Imperial Brooch. The book is filled with rich and lively detail, giving the sense of actually seeing the characters and places she describes. Ilil Arbel, through Madame Koska, broadened my horizons. For that I am grateful.

Anyone who comes to this lively story will enjoy it and no one will guess the outcome. If you like mysteries or just a good story, you will not be disappointed. The historical background of the Russian Revolution brings a sharp focus to its drama but it is light reading and great fun.

This is a true mystery novel. It has all the elements you look for in good mystery: interesting and multidimensional characters, suspense, intrigue, and of course always asking “Who did it?” The characters were so well written that they stayed with me every time I put down the book to do something else.
