LIQUID FEAR: A Mystery Thriller
When Roland Doyle wakes up with a dead woman in his motel room, the only clue is a mysterious vial of pills bearing the label “Take one every 4 hrs or else.”

Ten years before, six people were involved in a secret pharmaceutical trial that left one of them dead and five unable to remember what happened. Now the experiment is continuing, as Dr. Sebastian Briggs concludes his research into fear response and post-traumatic stress disorder. He’s backed by a major drug company and an ambitious U.S. Senator, but he also has a personal stake in the outcome.

Only by taking the mysterious pills can the survivors stave off the creeping phobias, sexual impulses, and inflicted madness that threaten to consume them. But the pills have an unexpected side effect—the survivors start remembering the terrible acts they perpetrated a decade ago. They are lured back to the Monkey House, the remote facility where the original trials took place, and Briggs has prepared it for their return.

Now they are trapped, they each have only one pill left, and cracks are forming in their civilized veneer.

After the pills are gone, there’s only one option. “Or else.”

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

In his latest offering, author Scott Nicholson yet again moves into new territory by creating a story full of action, mystery, thrills, and paranoia. This story had me looking over my shoulder at times. Don’t miss out on this treat from Nicholson.

Scott Nicholson could never be accused of cookie cutter stories but he’s really gone in a different direction with this thrilling story about scientific research going on at Research Triangle Park. The only similarity to his previous books is sticking to his familiar territory of the mountains of North Carolina. I was hooked on this book from page one and couldn’t put it down until the end. After reading this I don’t think I will ever be volunteering for a drug trial!

I began reading Liquid Fear one day before work last week when I had a few minutes to kill. I wound up clocking in late. I just didn’t want to stop reading! Scott Nicholson drops the reader right in the nail-biting middle of the action and doesn’t give you even a second to catch your breath before pushing you out into the twisted thick of it.

And you will, too.

About The Author

I live in the Southern Appalachian Mountains, and much of my fiction is based on mountain legends, local haunted places, and strange events. I was inspired by my grandmother’s storytelling, and have always written as long as I can remember. I also love art and music, and I’ve had the usual assortment of odd jobs: carpenter, dishwasher, sports card dealer, painter, radio announcer, journalist, and freelance editor.

My novels include the Kindle bestsellers Disintegration, The Red Church, Speed Dating with the Dead, and The Skull Ring, as well as eight other novels, including the urban fantasy Cursed! with J.R. Rain and the paranormal romance series October Girls. I’ve also created the comics Grave Conditions and DIRT and have written six screenplays, several of which are available on Kindle.

My web site has writing advice, fiction excerpts, art and samples from my comic books, my movie work, and numerous essays. I love to hear from people about my work, even if you don’t like it! My writing is a journey of faith and exploration, and I am always willing to tackle the big questions with an open mind and willing spirit. I believe we all have the opportunity to make this world a more beautiful, powerful, and peaceful place by embracing the mysteries and power of our hearts. I hope you’ll join me on the journey.

Thank you for considering today’s Book Of The Day – Scott Nicholson and ENT appreciate it.

Love the mountains and the South. Wish I could move back. I read your genre as well as mysteries. Love your writing as it reminds me of Stephen King a fav of mine. I try to read everything you write, (when it’s free). I know you have to make a living but sadly poverty lives with me. My kids got me a kindle for Christmas as I was drowning in books so now I have this lovely little thing loaded.
Keep it up and I will keep reading.

Love the NC Mountains – but that only seems fitting. I’m from Myrtle Beach and have learned that people from Myrtle vacation in the NC mountains. And yes, you guessed it – people from the mountains vacation in Myrtle. Every time we’re there we meet someone working in a restaurant or store who just came back from or is about to visit Myrtle Beach.

It sounds like I’d love this story as much as the NC mountain range. It sounds like there is a great hook at the beginning and a big ole climax at the end. It sounds a little over the top (and I mean that as a complement – it’s how I describe my writing style).

I have to put this one down on my wish list.
