In the desert realm of Kad, a deadly epidemic strikes the palace of Sultan Kuramos. Only a magical healer from an enemy land has the skill to save his royal household, but Kuramos never imagined the healer would be a woman.

Healer Varene finds her own surprises in Kad. She expects the sultan’s arrogance, but not his courage or his selfless care of the ill–or the possibility that the epidemic is the curse of a vengeful goddess.

Kuramos’s culture condemns Varene’s mystical talents. Her presence triggers an insurrection, yet as he and the healer toil for a cure, he loses his heart to her. She falls for him as well, but how can she relinquish her homeland and her principles–especially when he already has a harem and his family may be cursed?

Kismet’s Kiss is a bountiful 105,000 words, enough to keep readers enthralled for hours. The Kindle version also contains bonus excerpts from three other novels.

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

Not my usual genre, I was my pleasantly surprised. Picked it up for diversion, and it grabbed me by the throat until the last page. Well-written with an unusual and engaging storyline that spans the spectrum of emotion. Fantasy Romance has a new star.

What a fabulous, provocative romance that breaks all the old-fashioned rules of the genre!

It was one of the most enjoyable and well written books I’ve read. I’m very anxious for the next Cate Rowan book!

I started reading at 10 a.m. and could not put this book down. My eyes were aching, but I kept reading in bed. Talk about a page turner! The characters just leap off the page, even the secondary characters.

About The Author

Cate Rowan has washed laundry in a crocodile-infested African lake, parasailed over Cabo, had monkeys poop in her hair, and swum with dolphins, but her best adventures are her story worlds. Her lush fantasy romances about magic, danger and passion in faraway realms have won more than thirty awards.

Reading was her first love and writing became a force in her life when clever elementary school teachers assigned weekly creative writing projects. She wrote through high school, particularly when bored in class. (Rumor has it those early pages consisted of fantasies about Duran Duran, but she is silent on the issue and keeps those notebooks from prying eyes.) She put fiction aside to earn a Ph.D.–but her muse, even while stuffed in a dark closet, never shut up.

Kismet’s Kiss is the story of two people discovering love and monogamy within a polygamous society. The theme arose from her studies in anthropology and her fascination with the harem system, not to mention the film The King and I. She enjoyed the challenge of creating a romantic Happily Ever After for the star-crossed king and the foreign infidel who brings true love to his world. Kismet’s Kiss is the first of a series in which each of the wonderful ladies of the harem gets a tale of dangers and deeds…and a heroic husband of her own.

Kismet’s Kiss became a two-time Romance Writers of America Golden Heart® Finalist and a winner of the Duel on the Delta, Molly, and Put Your Heart in a Book contests. It is also nominated for Best Fantasy Romance and Best Debut of 2010 by The Romance Reviews.
