Two new short stories of inspiration, humor, and a touch of the angelic join the popular “Shiny Green Shoes” to offer “Hope for the Holidays.”

“Shiny Green Shoes”– 1935 was a hard year on old Route 66. The unlikely friendship between a young, black girl and an aging white actress brings hope to a town down on its luck.

“Refiner’s Fire”–Nestled in her beautiful home in the San Diego hills, Dina Stein is determined to celebrate Hanukkah even without her ungrateful daughter. Getting caught in a natural disaster isn’t on her agenda.

“Patty’s Angels”–Los Angeles, 1960. California is becoming a state of great contrasts. Downtown LA and the suburbs are only minutes, yet worlds, apart. A little girl named Patty brings people together, with the help of her celestial best friends.

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

In this heart-warming story, Dana Taylor creates a magical mood sure to appeal to anyone who’s looking for a respite from naysayers and dream stealers and false forecasters. This feel-good story offers the message that it’s never too late to follow a dream . . . or influence a child.

Loved this book! The story is of two very unlikely people coming together to remember and realize dreams. I found the characters endearing and the story uplifting. I recommend this book to anyone wanting to escape for a few hours and remind themselves that dreams really do come true.

I really enjoyed this unusual story. Mazie’s remembrance of her days with Aunt Peach drew me in from the first line. The Depression-era isn’t so very different from the current recession. It’s good to be reminded that dreams do come true. I appreciated the positive theme.
