There’s nothing pretty about murder.

Meet Toni Diamond, make up artist to middle America. She’s also got a nose for trouble and a passion for solving mysteries. Imagine Columbo in a lavender suit. She never met a woman who wouldn’t look better with a little help from the Lady Bianca line of cosmetics. But don’t be fooled by appearances. Underneath the fake diamonds and the big hair is a sharp brain and a keen eye that sees the details as well as the funny side of life. When a Lady Bianca sales rep is murdered at the annual convention in Dallas, Toni is the one who notices things that some people, like sexy Detective Luke Marciano, might easily miss. Only someone who understands as much about how to make appearances deceiving could see into the mind of this killer — a murderer who wants to give Toni a permanent makeover. Into a dead woman.

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

Love reading Nancy Warren’s romantic novels. They are so much fun! “Frosted Shadow” is a bit different from her other books. This one involves a MURDER (or maybe MURDERS???). A real page-turner that I couldn’t put down until I knew who did it! More, please!

I wasn’t sure what to expect but kept turning the pages. After a while, I couldn’t put it down. I loved the way the characters were presented. The story rolled quickly and I laughed aloud a couple of times. Looking forward to the next Toni Diamond novel. A good, fast read.

Loved it. Really, really sweet and funny. It moves quickly and I really enjoyed Toni Diamond as a character. I hope it’s the start of a series. Kind of feels like the show Castle. I can’t stress how funny it is. Well done.

As a longtime fan of Nancy Warren’s books, I wondered what to expect with a contemporary mystery featuring a makeup-selling sleuth. I needn’t have worried–with a Warren novel you’re always in good hands. I loved Toni Diamond–her smarts, her powers of observation, and her compassion. I liked how the mystery played out, and was entertained by her characters. Can’t wait for the next one!

Love mysteries with smart women, unusual plot twists and characters you’d like to invite to lunch? You have to read Frosted Shadow, the first in what I hope will be a very long series featuring amateur sleuth, Tony Diamond, National Sales Director for Lady Bianca makeup. Nancy Warren has created a unique and appealing heroine in Tony, who’s funny, smart, vulnerable and sexy.

Awards and lists are great, but nothing beats the thrill of hearing from readers. Most have commented on how much they enjoy the mixture of humor and sexuality in Nancy’s books—which is good, because she works darned hard to put them in there.

Nancy holds an honors degree in English literature and lives in the Pacific Northwest. She spends her days sensibly employed inventing men who combine amazing sexual prowess with sensitivity to a woman’s needs, and women who aren’t afraid to fight for their dreams.

Thank you for considering today’s Book Of The Day – Nancy Warren and ENT appreciate it.

Hi Nora,

Yep, a series is the idea. I need to schedule time to write the next book, though. It’s all plotted but I have other deadlines. You know how it is! Thanks for asking.
