What happens when Mr. Slow and Steady finds himself on a collision course with Ms. Full-Speed-Ahead?

The forecast is smooth sailing for Oliver Chancellor, one of Galveston’s premier financier. Destined to take his place in his family’s bank, Chance is content with the future that’s been mapped out for him, right down to his upcoming engagement to a prim debutante.

But when beautiful Aurora St. Claire crosses his path, Chance recklessly plunges into uncharted territory with nothing but his heart to guide him-and a beautiful woman to tempt him.

Propelled by a lifelong dream to buy the island home reportedly haunted by her colorful ancestors, Aurora desperately needs Chance’s help in securing a business loan and she won’t take no for an answer. In the midst of convincing the hesitant blue blood to take a chance on her dream, Aurora awakes his hidden streak of red-hot passion. Before they know it, the mismatched pair are all tangled up in a reckless desire and headed for trouble-trouble in the name of love.

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

This book was fun to read. I blew off an entire weekend day and cuddled with my Kindle! I like a book that makes me want to get back to reading it asap. I loved the author’s writing style. It was just plain excellent, crisp, and fast-moving.

This series blends contemporary romance with adventure and a quest for history into one fascinating story. And the family relationships are real and compelling. I highly recommend this book and the rest of the series.

This book was so romantic and the locale descriptions were so detailed that I felt I was there with them on Pearl Island! Loved how two oppposites who have undeniable chemistry try to fight against an obviously losing battle! Beautifully tender with a compelling plot and circumstances will keep you turning pages to see if their love will develop into something meaningful! Loved, loved, loved it!!!

A delightful contemporary romantic comedy that demonstrates Julie Ortolon’s talent to perfection. Chance and Rory are fabulous together, blending humor, chemistry, and romance with an entertaining plot that never misses a beat. Highly recommended!

Love the story. It has a little bit of everything. Romance, intrigue , and a hint of fantasy. The characters are likeable and the story comes together very nicely. With enough of a hook that you are going to need the rest of the books to see how everyone turns out.

About The Author

I’m a late bloomer when it comes to reading — and writing. I didn’t discover either joy until I discovered romance novels in my early twenties. Now, I’m totally addicted. My biggest joy is bringing all my interests together in my books, to have the chance to celebrate the things that excite me through my characters.

Since I love to travel, all my books are set in places I’ve actually been. Sometimes those real places morph into fictional places — like Pearl Island — but I try to capture the magic of the setting and people in all my books, to make writing them like a trip to a wonderful world where good always triumphs and love always ends in Happily Ever After — against all odds. That’s what makes life worth living, and books worth reading: when someone grabs the brass ring.
