Forensic geologists Cassie Oldfield and Walter Shaws embark on a perilous hunt–tracking a terrorist who has stolen radioactive material that is hotter than the desert in August. He threatens to release it in America’s most fragile national park, Death Valley.

But first he must stop the geologists who are closing in.

As the hunt turns dangerous, Cassie and Walter will need grit along with their field skills to survive this case. For they are up against more than pure human malice. The unstable atom–in the hands of an unstable man–is governed by Murphy’s Law. Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong.

And it does.

For a limited time, you can get book 2 in the series, Volcano Watch, for only 99 cents!

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

This is simply one of the best books I’ve ever read. The characters are strong, realistic, and sympathetic. Highly recommended.

I did not want to put this book down. Not only was it a good read, it was interesting information. She gave us geological information without boring us to death. Great characters.

I like books that let the reader learn things. In this well written book I learned about nuclear waste and the industry lie that it is a clean energy when the reality is, it is the most polluting energy of all. I learned that geology is more important than I ever realized. Most of all I learned about some really interesting people. I’m already reading the next book in the series and it looks to be just as good as the first one.

BADWATER is the first of two mysteries (so far) in which science plays a part. Volcano Watch is the other in this series. The two are among the best mysteries I’ve ever read; yes, they’re that good. Highest recommendations.

Toni Dwiggins does a great job of sucking you into the story. The writing is excellent with great characters and scenes. I felt parched following the desert action in Death Valley. I’m not a big science guy, but Toni does a great job of mixing it into the action and delivering a taut thriller in a new setting. I recommend reading it. I’m also looking forward to reading her next book in the forensic geology series.

About The Author

I’m a third-generation Californian who migrated from southern Cal to northern Cal. What I like most about my state is that one can go from the ocean to the mountains in one day, with a lunch stop in the desert. I like it so much I’ve set my forensic geology books in those settings.

I’m author of a US History textbook, and have contributed to texts in the sciences. I’ve done tech-writing for the Silicon Valley computer industry, and that experience hatched an idea that became my first novel, about an attempt to sabotage the nation’s telephone system.

I went in a different direction with the Forensic Geology Series, taking mystery into outdoor adventure and thriller territory.

Thank you for considering today’s Book Of The Day – Toni Dwiggins and ENT appreciate it.
