Max Reynolds wants one thing—to find the family of the father he never knew, the father who didn’t want him. But Max’s goal is cast aside when he is diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. And worse yet, his oncology nurse is meddlesome Heather Watson—the woman who destroyed his hope of marrying the woman he loved. Heather finds a challenge in guiding her friend’s neglectful ex-boyfriend through his fight against cancer.

To their surprise, romantic sparks fly between them. But Max faces a critical health decision, and Heather must meddle one last time, risking her heart on a long shot chance to give Max a future, with or without her. Will he win his battle with cancer only to lose a chance at love?

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

The story is one I found to be so well written I wanted to read it slowly in order to absorb each beautiful detail. It is filled with so much emotion. Sometimes what we are looking for is right in front of us and sometimes those that love us the most get pushed away. Don’t miss this story that shows how trusting God can get you through anything.

This author never fails to deliver a well crafted book and she has done it again with A Love to Call Mine. It has a great storyline with believable characters. You will find yourself cheering for Max as he receives a bad medical diagnosis and searches for his birth family. Will he and Heather find true love together?

Mrs. Whren tells a beautiful story of realistically flawed people and how they handled this storm in their lives. What a great reminder to trust that the Lord will use all things in our lives for our good and His glory if we will allow Him.

Ms. Whren used her literary prowess to reach deep into the hearts of her readers, especially mine. I love the fact that she did not allow the main characters to fall for each other immediately. Without the initial antagonism, the story would have fallen flat, and lessened the desire I had to put the book down and walk away from it because parts of it were just a little too close to home for me.

I was already a fan of Author Merrillee Whren’s books, and reading this story reminded me why! I really enjoy her style of writing, and in this story the characters and life situations are very realistic. I’m loving this series, and look forward to reading the next one. Five stars!!
