Another Chance

Anna Brown was nearly forty before she earned her college degree. When she has trouble finding a teaching position in St. Louis, she applies for a substitute’s position at Casey’s Institute, a juvenile detention center located in the Missouri Ozarks. Is it chance or God’s will when a spring snowstorm prevents her from driving home?
Dr. Michael Grant admits he made the wrong decision when he ignored the weather and took Anna to dinner. It’s the first of many misunderstandings, and Michael’s apologies aren’t enough to truly earn Anna’s forgiveness. Every time Anna gives the handsome administrator another chance, it seems he’ll prove he’s no different from any of the other men who have disappointed her.
Michael can’t help being intrigued by this tiny woman, whose behavior is so different than the ordinary. Though she admits she’s afraid of animals, he offers her a job overseeing an experimental pet therapy program. Ignoring his self-imposed rule against fraternizing with those who work at Casey’s, he finds himself seeking every opportunity to get to know her better.
Overcoming a fear of dogs isn’t Anna’s only challenge. Some of the other women resent the special treatment she receives from Dr. Grant, and they’ll do whatever they can to keep the two of them apart. It seems she has inadvertently made an enemy of at least one man as well, and he’ll stop at nothing to come between her and Michael Grant.
It takes a near crisis to open Anna’s eyes to the truth about loyalty, from both animals and people. She’s ready to swallow her pride, if Michael is willing to give her another chance.
Michael blames himself for what happened – he should’ve shared his history in the beginning. Is it too late to tell her now, and ask her to give him another chance?

This tale is the beginning of the most controversial life. The story of a man who – by himself – caused regions to evacuate like the approach of a hurricane. Many would only whisper of him, the dreaded Marsh King…

But at sixteen he was just Nick, a boy who made paintbrushes that obeyed his commands. He could paint pictures that made passersby forget where they were going. In those days he wanted to earn forgiveness (and maybe a bit more) from an outgoing girl he’d known off and on since he was four. And to save his village, by winning the most elite speed-painting tournament of all time.

This village, however, wanted nothing more than for him to leave. Years of being a target of its scorn and bullies taught Nick a few tricks, though. And he and his few friends would need every last one of them. Because even as a teen he’d already made some dangerous enemies…

I love all the free books and my kindle fire, the only problem is not being able to list my books by authors name so I can read them in order. If there is a way please advice. On my computer I have them listed in authors name I need to tell you I have over 2100 books. I was buying books before you started giving free books. Thank you for all the free and low price books.

I read the book” The Last Explorer.” I would like to have known this man because he seemed to be able to solve so many problems. He kept right on going even though faced with so many problems. We need more people like him.

I used to be able to read the free books but now as a Prime member everything I want to read is in the free Prime library and that is not easy to assess so I miss out on some good books so I am not very happy with prime. I had wanted the new Fire HD 9″ Kindle for Christmas but now I am about to change my mind.
