Nothing will keep her from fulfilling her promise to him to make the Olympic team, especially not the charming Ben Kelly.

Aware of Xavier’s history of firing secretaries, Victor garners a promise that for three months he cannot be fired.

Vic then proceeds, in Xavier’s view, to be cheeky and impertinent at every turn. Xavier endures the impudent pup because Victor is most skilled in extracting the truth from clients and intuiting facts with little evidence to assist.

Based on the real life attempt to assassinate Napoleon Bonaparte in 1800.

Invalided out of the French Army, Alain Duval joins the Ministry of Police in Paris, led by the infamous Joseph Fouché.

Newly appointed and off duty, he is strolling through the city when he sees a crowd waiting for Napoleon, the First Consul, not yet Emperor.

He is jostled by some men leaving the area in a hurry and shortly afterwards a bomb, the ‘Infernal Machine’ explodes.

Next day, Duval describes the men to a police artist and joins the hunt for the bombers. Horse-shoes and barrel hoops send him searching all over Paris.

Eventually he finds the warehouse used by the bombers and his mentor is killed in the subsequent fight.

Some of the bombers are captured but others escape, then Napoleon puts an abrupt end to the search, blaming others for the outrage.

But the story is not over. Duval falls in love with his mentor’s daughter, and together they find another of the bombers, leading to a surprise ending.

World at War is the most ambitious virtual world game in history. Virtual reality games have existed for years, but this will be the first with a true virtual world.

Financial commentators have called it an insane risk. Scientists have hailed it as the beginning of a new technological revolution. To gamers, it was one thing: amazing.

For three long years, they have waited with anticipation for its release, and now the new world is upon them.

But a new frontier comes with many unknowns, and players will need to learn how to survive in the game’s harsh virtual world. And what influence is the game having on their real world selves?

Zach Wofford was a beta player, and knows first-hand what an amazing experience World at War will be. Together, with just a small band of his friends, he will make something great in the virtual world, or go down fighting in the attempt.

But he knows that just a few players will never do; they will need a bigger group to survive the myriad of enemies hoping to pick their bones. A lone wolf will be overwhelmed by sheer numbers, but a pack, that’s something to be feared.

Join the members of Black Wolf Company as they experience the early days of World at War. Battles will be fought, friendships will be formed, trust will be broken.

Their lives in two worlds will be changed forever. But through all this, one question will still remain.

In a World at War…

What’s your battle?

After barely surviving a vicious attack by Richard Allan Estes, the most sadistic and brilliant serial killer she’s ever come across, FBI Profiler Kayleen Archer goes back home again, retreating to the small, rural town in North Carolina that she abandoned long ago. With nothing and no one left to keep the darkness at bay, she lives in a gray world of fear; her dog, her gun, and a bottomless stash of liquor being the only things to keep her company. As such, she spends her days drinking, and praying that Estes, who remains at large, will not come back to finish the job.

Yet when a little girl goes missing from a local beauty pageant, only to turn up murdered the very next day, Kayleen is called upon to help by someone she had desperately hoped to never see again, the one man she simply cannot refuse – her first love and first loss, Sheriff Caleb Stone.

Although Kayleen wants nothing more than to drown herself and her past in an endless stream of vodka, she soon must face a harshly bitter truth: helping Caleb solve this case just might be the only chance she has to escape the black, gaping chasm into which she’s fallen.

But can she give up the solace of her alcohol-induced haze long enough to regain her razor-sharp, intuitive focus? And, if she delves deeply, yet again, into the mind of another monster, will it destroy her as she fears? Or, could it possibly help her break free from the chains of terror and regret once – and finally – for all?
