Inevitable Detour – Nook

“Loved this! It was intense, it was sweet, it was hot and mysterious all at once. And there was nothing that could make me put this book down.” -Jessica W.

Amazon and Barnes and Noble Bestselling Author

The day my life took an inevitable detour things got a little crazy.

My name is Essalin Brant, but everyone calls me Essa.

I attend a small college in a tiny town, and in my twenty-two years of life I’ve never even traveled outside the state of Pennsylvania.

You could say my life is pretty boring. I live by the rules. I’m a good girl and nothing exciting ever happens.

But that’s all about to change.

Enter Farren Shaw. Not only is he older and intimidating, but he’s more sure of himself than any 29-year-old man has a right to be. Did I mention that he’s drop-dead gorgeous?

Well, he is. He also happens to be my best friend Haven’s brother.

And I would be content with just fantasizing about Farren from afar, but when Haven suddenly goes missing, her gorgeous brother is the only one who believes me when I say she was abducted, even though all signs seem to suggest Haven left town willingly.

I know better, though. As does Farren. So when he asks me to accompany him to search for his sister, I accept.

That’s when the real adventure begins.

Our quest to find Haven takes us across the country.

And throughout the time we spend together, I find myself falling for Farren . . . falling hard. He’s everything I’ve ever wanted. But is he really someone I should fear?

Because aside from making me feel things I’ve never felt before, Farren is hiding something.

Something big. What could this stunning man be keeping from me? And why? Is Haven’s disappearance somehow connected to his mysterious job?

All I know is that things are about to get real.

Welcome to the Inevitable Detour that has become my life.

On July 7th 2005, London is high on the success of winning the 2012 Olympics bid.

The celebrations come to an abrupt end when terrorists attack the city’s transport network, striking Underground trains and a bus during the morning rush hour.

At the other side of the country, in comparatively peaceful, beautiful Cornwall, aspiring journalist Jamie Calder finds her own life directly affected by the bombs.

Her partner Dave vanishes in London at the same time the attacks take place.

The initial impact of that terrible day is followed by a slow but sure falling apart of the life Jamie believed was settled and secure.

As well as Dave’s mysterious disappearance, she finds she has to face a betrayal by her best friend, and the prospect of losing her job.

Meanwhile, a gang of teenagers is wreaking havoc in the town that Jamie loves, culminating in a brutal attack on an elderly lady and adding to Jamie’s inner turmoil.

The following months hold a number of challenges for Jamie, demonstrating that life does not always run to plan and that things are not always as they may first seem.

Only time will tell whether this is necessarily a bad thing.

It is about the meeting, the awkwardness, the awareness, the doubts, and the hopes of two people who quickly start to fall in love.

Their romance involves the heat of passion which is put on hold, a decision that I felt was realistic considering the newness of the relationship.

I appreciated the characters having room within the story to fully engage in all their relationships.

I had to put the book aside when half read. I soon realized that I was wondering what each character would do next.

I would recommend The Proposal by Lily Zante to those looking for an entertaining weekend read with memorable characters.

When Jesse McDermitt retires from the Marine Corps, he has no idea what he will do for the rest of his life. At 37, his greatest skill is killing people from up to a mile away.

He knows there aren’t many job opportunities in the civilian world for that.

However, he knows the south Florida waters, is an experienced diver, loves to fish, and knows his way around a boat.

A waitress in a waterfront restaurant in north Key Largo gives him an idea and he runs with it.

An old friend helps get him set up as a charter fishing and dive boat Captain and a new friend helps him buy just the right boat.

Danger lurks in the sleepy little town of Marathon, in the middle of the Florida Keys, as well as in the swamps of the Everglades.

But danger doesn’t expect to run into a man like Jesse, who will not only respond swiftly, but with a vengeance unexpected.
