Kindle Shasta

It looks like we have a new version of the Kindle coming out in August and the code name is Kindle Shasta. I’m sure that Shasta will not be the actual name of the new Kindle it’s just the code name while they’re getting it ready for production.

One of the things that many of us were hoping for from the new Kindle version is a color screen but it appears as though that’s not going to happen. Jeff Bezos (Amazon’s CEO) said that color Kindles are “still a long way out.”

There’s no word on if the new Kindle will have folders or not. The biggest complaint that I’ve heard is that there’s no folder system or any way to keep track or organize your Kindle book collection and Amazon has known about this complaint for awhile so hopefully it will be addressed with this latest version coming out in August.

One of the rumors that I’ve heard is that the new Kindle will be a WiFi device.

As I get more info on the Kindle Shasta I’ll pass it along to you.

The new systems version DOES have folders and they are great and easy to use. You can wait for Kindle to send you the update, or update it manually as I did. It involves some knowledge of the computer and Kindle but is not that difficult.

I heard that they’re releasing an upgrade (Kindle 2.5) for existing Kindles that will include a feature called “Collections” to address the issue of lack of folders. It’s being released in phases, but should be happening right now.
