Two sisters, Marlene Webb and Bethany Cunningham, attend the wedding of a distant cousin hoping to find information about the family tree. What they discover is a body in the church basement, a tactless police officer, a cosmetics case containing fifty thousand dollars, and a hidden family secret. Self-described as being over fifty, overweight, and overeducated, the sisters have obvious personality differences. Bethany is generous of heart, and Marlene is, well, not. When the groom is arrested at the reception, the sisters are challenged with the task of proving his innocence. After all, no family member of theirs would commit murder–or would they? Some levity is brought to the serious subject of murder by Marlene’s unwittingly comical behavior. She constantly steps in undesirable substances, fails to notice the obvious, and can’t remember names, and when she tries to hide fifty thousand dollars in her bra, the results are eye-popping.

“I read this book in one sitting. I was unable to put it down. The author captivates your interest and you find yourself immersed in the story. The characters are compelling.” – Ellen

Believe. A message that still taunts her years after the passing of her daughter. In the days of her daughter’s illness, she considered herself a seeker, open to the possibilities of prayer and faith. Now cynical and guarded, she is forced to reexamine her beliefs and relive her past when an old love resurfaces, with a sick child of his own. Believe is a story that examines fractures to our foundations in the face of tragedy. It is a story that asks if prayers are always answered, but often in ways we do not see.

“Laura Florand delivers another intense and insightful portrait of the workings of the human heart. Brace yourselves…this exquisite and love-filled tale will engage you and inflame your senses with heart-warming romance and steamy sensuality.” -Mina

After eleven years of marriage, Léa Laurier knew her husband. Knew how he could take on responsibility for a world-famous restaurant, a wife, and her two teenage siblings at nineteen years old and never falter, never tire. Knew his drive and his ambition, that took him to the stars.

Knew how brilliant his gray eyes looked when they met hers for just one moment across a host of cameras. She didn’t know why she was so tired. She didn’t know why she needed to just get away. For a while. Maybe a week or two. A month. She’d be back.

After eleven years of marriage, international superstar chef Daniel Laurier knew his wife. Knew how she could lavish caring on everyone, her siblings, his staff, and most especially him. Knew the way her face lit up when he won yet another television contest, and the way she hugged him for it.

Knew how her hair smelled when he sank into bed exhausted at one in the morning. He didn’t know what to do when he came home from a consulting trip to find she’d disappeared to remote South Pacific island: I just needed to get away for a little while. A week or two. I’ll call you.

As the whole solid world under his feet turned into a sandcastle in the tide, Daniel knew only one thing: whatever was wrong with his marriage or his wife, he wasn’t losing her. So as a top chef, he did the one thing he always knew how to do: turn up the heat.

The Virus spread. Billions died. The Ending began. We may have survived the apocalypse, but the Virus changed us. When people started getting sick, “they” thought it was just the flu. My roommate, my boyfriend, my family…they’re all gone now. I got sick too.

I should have died with them—with the rest of the world—but I didn’t. I thought witnessing the human population almost disappear off the face of the earth was the craziest thing I’d ever experience. I was so wrong. My name is Dani O’Connor, I’m twenty-six-years-old, and I survived The Ending.

The Virus changed everything. The world I knew is gone, and life is backwards. We’ve all had to start over. I’ve been stripped of my home, my dreams…all that is me. I’m someone else now—broken and changed. Other survivors’ memories and emotions haunt me. They invade my mind until I can no longer separate them from my own. I won’t let them consume me. I can’t.

My name is Zoe Cartwright, I’m twenty-six-years-old, and I survived The Ending. We’ve been inseparable for most of our lives, and now our friendship is all we have left. The aftermath of the Virus has stranded us on opposite sides of the United States. Trusting strangers, making sacrifices, killing—we’ll do anything to reach one another.

Fear and pain may be unavoidable, but we’re strong…we’re survivors. But to continue surviving in this unfamiliar world plagued by Crazies and strange new abilities, we have to adapt. We have to evolve. And more than anything, we have to find each other.

I love salads, and side dishes. The difficulty I had when losing weight, however, was to find a salad dressing, or a salad or side dish, which was tasty but not loaded with calories. These dressings, saucers, side dishes, and salads are all under 250 calories per serving.

All recipes include calories, fat, fiber, carbs, and protein content per serving. Important note: this is not a cookbook with zero calorie (or near-zero calorie) recipes. The very nature of these dishes and their ingredients mean that the calorie count will never be zero, or even close to it.

Those looking for minimal calorie main dishes are advised to seek commercial preparations specifically made for very low calorie diets. Also, these recipes are not necessarily low-carb. With healthy ingredients such as fruits and vegetables, they often include GOOD carbs.
