William has spent six years running from his past and the last eight months trying to rid his mind of the dreams that increasingly haunt his nights. Maggie had lived her entire life without hope until one man showed her what it meant to be loved. He’d been her light in a lifetime of darkness. Six years ago, that darkness stole him away.

Without him, she’s surrendered herself to an existence she doesn’t know how to escape. In a moment that will change his life forever, William comes face to face with the girl who, with one look, captured his heart. Now William is ready to fight to take back what had been stolen from him six years before. But he never imagined what that fight might cost him.

BARGAIN BOOK

Two Kill Again
by Patricia Clark
Rating: 4.4 Stars
Genre: Suspense/Thriller
Price: $0.99

Michael Thompson had no idea that his camping trip to Dark Hollow Falls would be his worst and last day on earth or that his teenage daughter, Sydney, would be gravely wounded and orphaned in the same savage attack. Sydney’s ultimate betrayal occurred at the one place she believed was her sanctuary. When that realization coalesced with the certainty her father was dead, Sydney’s only wish was to linger in her semi-conscious state until she could die.

Psychologist and FBI agent Shawn Cleary begins her investigation without knowing that the man who will become the Park Slasher is still a threat to the youngster. As she patiently works to establish a relationship with the wounded girl, more National Park attacks occur. Shawn pursues evidence and a confusing trail through the grandeur of the Smoky Mountains and the majesty of Yosemite.

Still hospitalized at D.C. General, Sydney’s slow recovery is hampered by a maniacal child psychologist and a custody fight that could cause the FBI agent to cross an ethical line. A second attempt to kill the beleaguered teenager further buries her memory of the events at Dark Hollow Falls. Shawn’s developing relationship with Sydney enables her to probe the girl’s mind leading the FBI to the San Francisco home of the misguided killer.

Agents sift through false clues until a startling discovery in California sends Shawn and her team to Glacier National Park with the knowledge that the attacks are more personal than the FBI could have believed. Amid blizzard conditions, Shawn leads her wary team to the treacherous, snow covered trails of Glacier for a stunning confrontation that will allow Shawn to either capture the Park Slasher and his cohorts or allow them to escape forever.

Charlie was a ghost hunter who didn’t really believe in ghosts, but he believed in the effect being a ghost hunter had on girls. He thought he had perfected the ultimate pick up line, “I’m a ghost hunter.” All that came crashing down when he met his soul mate…a ghost. One night while photographing an old Victorian mansion, he was startled to meet the ghost of Anne Meux. She died in 1970 at age 85. She was now only 25 and beautiful.

Charlie was soon engulfed in a riveting conversation. Who was she? Where was she? What was she doing in her old room? At the end of a long conversation, she suddenly had to go. He had a question for himself. Why was he madly in love with an apparition or worse a hallucination? If she was in a parallel universe could he bring her back to this universe? He had an overwhelming desire to get some questions answered. He needed his best friend, Stanley, the smartest guy he knew.

Stanley was working on his PHD in Physics so surely he could figure this out. Stanley was intrigued and agreed to help his best friend. As a physicist, Stanley was well aware of parallel universes and the duality of the universe. There is always two of anything that can exist. Stanley was convinced that science and religion were two sides of the same coin. The dogma in both seemed to prevent the ultimate discovery of truth. He enjoyed asking the curious. “Since space was created by the big bang…what did it go bang in? Or if God created it all by saying, ‘Let there be light!’ Who was he talking to?” And the ultimate question. “What was there just before the bang or Gods command?” The same answer.

Thousands of them have lived underground. They’ve lived there so long, there are only legends about people living anywhere else. Such a life requires rules. Strict rules. There are things that must not be discussed. Like going outside. Never mention you might like going outside. Or you’ll get what you wish for.

This is the story of a boy and his weasel, a bird and a snake, India and the British Empire. Rudyard Kipling’s dramatic tale, here excerpted from the greater volume of The Jungle Book, is the story of the loyal mongoose, Rikk-Tikki-Tavi, and the lengths to which he must go to protect his adoptive human family.
