- The Kindle 2 is just over 1/3 of an inch thick – check out the picture below.
- It weighs only 10.2 ounces – less than most paperbacks.
- Get Books in under 60 seconds with no pc required.
- Longer Battery Life – 25% longer than the original Kindle. You can read for days without recharging. Here’s a tip to make battery life last even longer: extend battery life
- More Storage – Holds over 1500 books. The only drawback is that there is no SD card slot now.
- Page turns are 20% faster.
- Whispersync – this allows you to sync two or more Kindle devices. This is a great new feature.
- The five way rocker button is an improvement over the rolling wheel that the Kindle 1 has for navigation.
- The head phone jack and on/off switch are now at the top of the Kindle. This will now provide easier access.
- Read to Me – New text to speech feature will read every book, blog, magazine and newspaper out loud to you.
- Over 230,000 books now available from Amazon along with many hundreds of thousands from other sources.
- 16 level gray scale screen – the Kindle 1 had only 4 shades. This will make text even clearer and images much crisper.
- Improved button placement should decrease the number of accidental page turns.

There are some links in the email I receive from your site as well as in this site that take me to a GoDaddy.com advertising site. An example is below. “Extend battery life” is linked, but it takes me to an advertising site. How can I actually get through to the link instead of the GoDaddy site that asks me if I want to buy the domain?

Would love it if this was corrected.
Carla,
I fixed the link, thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I love my kindle!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am looking to buy a Kindle. I have the Kindle for PC and several books in it. Can I upload from the Kindle for PC to a Kindle?
I bought my Kindle 9/26/10. Have used it almost everyday since. I LOVE my Kindle. It is nice not to buy the same book twice. Have read almost 400 books since purchased. This is incredible.
Thank You!
