Kindle 1 For Sale

by Greg on July 20, 2009

Just a quick note for those of you who might want to buy a Kindle but don’t want to pay full price. You can still get a Kindle 1 although it will probably be used. As of the moment of this writing there are over 60 Kindle 1’s available at Amazon starting at $200. If you’re interested in buying a Kindle 1 and saving about $100 over the cost of the Kindle 2 go here: Buy Kindle 1

Just got mine from Kindle Warehouse. Battery sucks something fierce, if you turn it off, within say 2-3 hours later trying to turn it back on needs to have the battery pulled, then reset for 5 minutes. Then it works fine. I’m assuming the battery that came with this refurb unit is trash, but when it works, I’m pretty impressed with it. I’d upgrade when this Gn 1 dies out completely.

I talked customer service today….they said there is a one-year warranty on the refurbished Kindle 1 model.

I still have my Kindle 1 and it is doing well. I guess I will use it until it is obsolete. I am curious to see what the new competition will look like but until then I still love my ancient Number One.

Before you purchase a Kindle 1, be aware that there is no warranty on them. The warranty starts when the reader is shipped, so once the one year runs that’s it. I was going to buy a refurbished one from Warehouse Deals, an Amazon company. Customer Service just told me there’s 30 day warranty and after that there’s nothing. So if you buy one on e-bay, even if it’s never been opened, there’s no warranty past one year from date of shipping
