by Greg on November 23, 2012

Today, we have a guest post from Xavier Finkley, bestselling author of Children’s Books. If you have children, make sure to check out Mr. Finkley’s books which are all highly rated and on sale for 99 cents each for this week only.

Becoming a parent can greatly change your outlook on life. Having two small boys I learned quickly how important it is to start educating them at a very young age. When my first son, Samuel was born – my wife and I committed ourselves to reading one bedtime story to him every night. We started this habit long before Samuel even uttered his first word and I believe this is part of the reason he is such an avid reader today.

While perusing the various Kindle children’s books for some beginner reading material, I noticed that many of the available books were rather bland and I felt the selection was fairly limited. I had always considered writing children’s books, but I had no idea where to begin. I decided to start keeping a notebook handy to write down all of my ideas for various children’s books. This notebook quickly became filled with notes, drawings, doodles and ideas. I could feel my ideas coming to life.

I started interviewing various illustrators from around the globe and within a few short months, my first children’s book “Epic Tails” was finally published on the Amazon Kindle store. After a flurry of sales, my interest grew as did my notebook and within one year I had already released eleven children’s books. Sales began to flourish and at one very exciting point, two of my books “A is for Ketchup” and “Randy the Rhino-saur” were sitting at the number one and number two ranked spot for the Baby-3 children’s category on Amazon. I was literally selling hundreds of books per day.

Since then, I have morphed into a full time children’s author. I left my day job this past year and I now employ two full time illustrators, one in Argentina and one in India. Amazon’s PR department has joined forces with me to get my books in the hands (and on the Kindles) of more readers. They set up interviews with me on New Parent’s website as well as multiple “mommy blogs.” Many of my children’s books have been translated in to a variety of languages, including Spanish, German, Portuguese and French.
On this Thanksgiving week, I am very thankful to be able to make a living doing what I love and hopefully touching the lives of both parents and children. For the week of black Friday, all Xavier Finkley books will be available at the special price of 99 cents on Amazon. (Normally these books are priced between $2.99 and $3.99) I hope you and your children enjoy these books and I wish all of you a very Happy Holiday season!
