This profound parable of men and women confronting their own difficulties in realizing the force of God within themselves presents a challenging and incisive commentary on the nature of religion and human capabilities. The setting is a village in north east india, but the site would be anywhere in the universe, and the forest a trio of villagers need to go through to reach mysteriously appearing figures of Krishna, Jesus and Mohammed could be the thicket all humans pass through to experience a true religious awakening.

After a number of lethal failures by the villagers, whose faith rises and falls as the drama ensues, the way to success and salvation is revealed by Vignesh, a gatekeeper to the forest which has dangerous man-eating beasts. Throughout the tale the insights in human consciousness are both dramatic and compelling.

The Man Who Left
by Theresa Weir & Anne Frasier
Rating: 5.0 Stars
Genre: Memoir
Price: $0.00 Save $4.99
Subject to change back to full price at any time.

In THE MAN WHO LEFT, a young woman struggles to make sense of her fractured family’s endless new beginnings and bad endings, her incisive intelligence and sensitivity often insufficient against the absurd, sometimes carelessly cruel circumstances of her life. Even after growing up and moving on, the legacy of her family’s wreckage endures. When the now adult woman’s biological father, the man who left, is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, his daughter must decide what, if anything, she owes him.
~~~
THE MAN WHO LEFT could be considered a companion to the stunning memoir THE ORCHARD. But where THE ORCHARD is a dark fairy tale, THE MAN WHO LEFT is pure Middle American gothic, told in Theresa Weir’s unadorned yet richly powerful and emotionally resonant style. A story about the burdens of remembering and the costs of forgetting, THE MAN WHO LEFT poignantly chronicles the emotional consequences of betrayal and abandonment by those who are supposed to love us the most.
Eve is an inquisitive baby rat who regularly escapes from her cage. One night she meets a strange creature in a glass tank across the room—a boa constrictor named Malachi. The snake is amused by Eve’s questions, and he awes her with stories of the wilds where he was caught. What will happen to their fragile friendship when Eve discovers what Malachi eats? Can they devise a solution that will save both Malachi and Eve’s family of rats?
Feeding Malachi is a 6,000-word story, divided into 10 short chapters. The story is illustrated with beautiful ink drawings by the Sarah Cloutier, who is also the cover artist. The story has a few scary moments, but also a happy ending. If you and your child enjoyed the whimsical dialogue of The Little Prince or the loveable characters in Janell Cannon’s Stellaluna and Verdi, you will enjoy the adventures of Eve and Malachi.
I just wanted to point out the very best thing about Kindle books (free or other wise), is the fact that they never collect dust. No matter how long you hang onto them, you never have to dust. Leaves more time for reading!..:-)
Thank you so much for the opportunity to download free kindle books. I love the diversity of the choices and I really enjoy reading books that are new pieces of literature and not some old retyped established classic.
