Luke, the beloved physician, returns to Israel to write a massive biography of Jesus. He hires a Jewish assistant, Augustus, to help him as a researcher, secretary, and scribe. Luke’s work is opposed by both the Roman government and the Jewish authorities. He runs afoul of an ambitious Roman, who does his best to restrict Luke from completing the work.

Augustus is conscientious, but somewhat of a bumbler in his work. He becomes enamoured with a girl in the Jerusalem church. To win her affections he finds a way to obtain the release of her dad from prison—except in doing so he breaks the law and Luke is blamed for it. The work almost comes to a halt.

It continues, however, as Luke and Augustus spend much time in Judea and Galilee, finding witnesses, interviewing them, looking at time and space issues with Jesus’ life. The biography is finished after three years. Luke’s nemesis in the government, however, has different plans.

Thank you so much for all the free books! I love being able to see the genres and choose only the ones I want to read. I am so grateful that you include Christian fiction, and children’s selections. Thank you again!

@Jan Levin
I don’t know if you are confused about what ereadernewstoday.com actually does, but what it does not do is create personal book lists. It just sends out notices when something is newly listed as free. If you don’t like the selection then don’t download them.
I personally love that this serves is available, and so well presented with Ratings, Genre and descriptions. It makes it so much easier to choose what you like and avoid what you are not interested in. I also feel like the site is very well set up for easy navigation. Thanks so much for the freebies ErNT!

After reading Jan’s posting, I really do think that she is thinking that the list of books are chosen just for her. I look and if I am not interested, I wait and check back the next day. That is what she needs to do as well. I am grateful to have the free books and I do not look a gift horse in the mouth.

jan- you rude lil something….someone offers you something for free and you complain…take your behind back to your local bookstore…to admin—THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

6 Marie June 17, 2012 at 5:10 pm

Trying to say this in the nicest way possible, how can one complain about something that is given to you FREE? To me, that’s like recieving a gift from a friend “just because he/she cares” and you say to them, “Oh take this back! I don’t like it!” A bit rude, isn’t it? The way this economy is, a gift like free books, for me, is to be much appreciated! There are some I don’t download, but I am SO very grateful for the ones that I do. We who are ill and who have to live on Disability, especially, have VERY limited funds, so these free books are indeed a gift! Thank you so much to the giver(s), whoever you are!

Thank you so much for providing us a wide selection of different genres, I have my favorites, most of us do, but I look at all that is offered and read what it is about. I have downloaded several different books I would normally have overlooked.
Thanks again!!!!

Thank you for this website. It introduces new authors while saving us a lot of expense on the average cost of an E-book. I’m disappointed when I see others complaining about the choices of books offered. While I do not like Horror or Supernatural stories,I appreciate what I can read for free. I hope the negative feedback of some does not ruin the enjoyment of others.
Thanks again!

I am so happy with all my free books I have almost 200 and still going thank you amazon just wish there were more cook books but I love all the mystery and crime books

11 tom June 17, 2012 at 8:49 am

Jan if you do not want a certain type of book just do not click on it. The same book list is sent to everyone. If you want more of your type of reading click on one of the books, but do not download it unless you want it instead scroll to the bottom area and check out all the prices on each book shown there are 10-15 pages to usually look at, you will probably find free ones of your type there also.
