As lifeguard Kelly Jacobs risks her life to save a drowning teen, her memory slips back to her late husband and her friendship with Lt. Joe “Bear” Baker of the SEALs. She also remembers her husband’s death in a “training accident,” which leads her to consider her own mortality. Desperately, she calls on God and pledges to tell Joe her feelings if she survives. When he pulls her out of the water and hears “I love you,” his heart skips a beat because he feels the same way. Kelly and Joe turn to God to help them muddle through Kelly’s fear of loving another man in a dangerous profession. But God has a few tests about forgiveness in store when the man responsible for the death of Kelly’s husband shows up and threatens both their lives.

Set in rural Georgia in the 1960s, BREAKING TWIG is a coming-of-age novel about Becky (Twig) Cooper, a young woman trying to survive the physical and emotional abuse of her mother, Helen, a beautiful, calculating woman who can, with a mere look, send the meanest cur in Sugardale, Georgia running for its life.

Not even Twig’s vivid imagination, keen wit, and dark sense of humor is enough to help her survive the escalating assaults of Helen and a new stepbrother, but help comes from an unexpected source–Frank, her stepfather. Sometimes, having one person who loves and believes in you is all a girl needs to keep hope alive.

Often raw and irreverent and sprinkled with all the Southern flavoring found in a good bowl of chicken and dumplings, BREAKING TWIG, is about finding love where we least expect it, destroying lives with easy lies, and realizing each of us determine our own truth.

Shadowed Ground (The Chronicles of Nowhere)
by Vicki Keire

Genre: Fantasy Novella
Price: $0.00 Save $0.99

Shadowed Ground continues the Chronicles of Nowhere novella series, picking up from the cliff hanger ending of its predecessor, Worlds Burn Through. As she wakes from a poisoned sleep with silver scars across her neck and back, her aunt’s diary may provide the only clues about the creatures of fire that hunt her. Through it, she learns of her own awakening powers, as well as more about Annwyn, the world of her childhood, now burned to ash. As the world around them becomes increasingly hostile, Chloe and Eliot turn more and more towards each other. As the bonds of trust grow, they must be careful not to tread upon time-honored boundaries: those forbidding Guardians to act on feelings for their Wards. To do so would break the bond, and would leave Chloe unprotected as the pair makes their way to Gray’s Landing, and safety.

Tortured. . . raped. . . executed. . .
No matter how much he drank, Gavin McAllister couldn’t get the headline out of his head. Just words. He was a writer, made his living with words. The impact of the words directly correlated to the emotions of the reader. Words could be twisted, knives to open up wounds long hidden. Maneuvered to evoke buried nightmares. Bare the soul, expose the wound, and you had a best seller. Make them laugh. Make them cry. Above all, make them feel something. He was an expert at manipulating words for emotion.

But he’d seen the body.

It wasn’t a story this time. This time it was personal. The demon of his nightmares had no name, but now he knew where to look for him. Glade Springs had secrets. And no one uncovered secrets better than Jacody ives.

Going Dental in New Jersey
by Lori Fran
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Genre: Contemporary Fiction
Price: $0.00 Save $0.99
Subject to change back to full price at any time.

When the psychiatrist she works for retires, Lily Morgan answers an ad for a front desk position with a dental office. The dentist turns out to be a foul-mouthed bigot and she leaves. Having become knowledgeable about dental matters, she seeks and finds employment with another dental office. She loves her new job. It is a short commute from her home, and she has a pleasant relationship with the patients. However, she soon discovers that her new employers, a husband and wife dental team, are in a dysfunctional marriage. Dr. Robert Z. Jacobs cannot stop dumping his problems on Lily, and even though she knows better, Lily cannot stop listening. He is at her desk most of the day—between patients and sometimes even during patients. Dr. Jacobs explains. “It’s okay. I have time. The patient is getting numb.” Against her better judgement, Lily becomes personally involved in their problems. She constantly questions why she is allowing herself to be part of the toxic atmosphere in the office. Why does she continue to stay? Dreams about her childhood may give her a clue. Unorthodox dental practices, which are all too common, come to light, as well as the realization that what may appear normal to patients, may in fact be an illusion.

I remember my circus
by Tom S. Figueiredo
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Genre: Children’s Book
Price: $0.00 Save $0.99
Subject to change back to full price at any time.

I remember my circus is a moving story about a boy who has never seen a circus show. It is also about happiness, empathy and love, and introduces us to intriguing characters such as a broken-hearted gorilla-woman, and a man able to, literally, carry the world inside of him.
The book has 48 beautiful illustrations by Sidney Falcão.

In I remember my circus, the award-winning author Tom S. Figueiredo presents us with one more of his children’s stories, which does not underestimate their intelligence and perhaps, for this same reason, has equally captivated older readers.

I just finished reading 5th Avenue, both books and cannot wait until I get the sequel to them. They keep you interested and wondering from page to page and therefore the pages keep turning and turning. I could not put my kindle down. Thank you for making this two book set free. I enjoyed both of them thoroughly.
