London waitress, Pippa Taylor has no interest in horses or country-living. But when she inherits Peace Offering, a hopeless racehorse, she embarks on a career change in order to see her late uncle’s wish to run him in the Grand National come true.

But having talked her way into a job as racing secretary to champion National Hunt trainer, Jack Carmichael and moved to the West Country, Pippa finds herself faced with more daunting obstacles than even the Grand National can throw at her.

The most challenging of them all is her relationship with her new boss.

Jack, although easy on the eye, is moody and fiery-tempered and certainly not easy on the ear. After a Christmas they would both rather forget, danger and deception threaten Pippa’s life in the country and as her time at Aspen Valley Racing Stables draws to its conclusion she discovers Peace Offering is not the only thing she must fight to keep.

Whether it’s the French Quarter or the swamps and bayous of his native state, the author employs them as the stage for his humorous, romantic or reflective narratives, entertaining the reader while lending sensuous depth to the Cajun dishes he describes. Even the photos seem edible, the recipes coming alive in their colorful depictions.

An epic adventure, this volume 1 of the coming series, Cajun Cuisine and More, serves as sumptuous hors d’oeuvres for the feast which follows. Value it as a treasure-trove of time-tested Cajun recipes, or adore it for its bumbling, lovable, all-too-human characters; either, or both, make this a must-have for family and friends, a gift to be remembered by its frequent use.

Thanks for the opportunity to sample the work of authors we might not know about, otherwise. Right now I’m loving Pandora’s Genes, and I’ve already ordered Pandora’s Children. I will be watching for more books by Kathryn Lance and will buy them as they are published, if they keep up this level of interest!

This is awesome of you to offer us such good books free.
It really helps out the senior citizens. We do like various genres but books with some middle-aged characters or older are exceptionally valued. There seems to be more of us than books about us! Thank you for offering us such a wonderful reading opportunity.
