The life and death of Benjamin Brash
by Egle Skei
Rating: 5.0 Stars
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Price: $0.00 Save $17.99
Subject to change back to full price at any time.

Harry Potter, Twilight, Lord of the Rings and Avatar have all shown our fascination in exploring other worlds. Now Egle Skei takes us into the spirit world to meet ghosts, angels and demons. We meet cheeky, intelligent poltergeists, mournful white ladies, forgetful gengangers and many more spiritual characters, not in a scary, horror story but in an age-old story of love across a divide.

From the feuding families of Romeo and Juliet to love between races, cultures, and religions, love’s capacity to unite and to divide has long intrigued authors and readers. Now Ms Skei, thoughtfully and humorously, explores potentially the greatest divide love must try to span, that between life and death. But as love grows so does hate and fear, threatening both the spiritual and physical worlds.

‘Can a man truly fall in love with a woman who he didn’t meet until 40 years after her death?’ and ‘What would be the impact if he did?’ These two questions had never crossed the sceptical mind of Benjamin Brash but as events unfolded the answers would not only fundamentally change his life but also threaten the fine thread that binds together the human and spiritual worlds.

Genre: YA Science Fiction/Adventure
Price: $0.00 Save $4.99

Fifteen-year-old Sami Walker wasn’t born in the tunnels. She’s traveled all over, even as far as the Northern caves beyond Eastport. Only nobodies went farther than that. Story was, there were towns beyond the Dustbowl, but most folk thought that was just stories.

It’s been almost a century since the sky fell and the world broke apart in a day, and still the people spent their whole lives underground, either in the Five Tunnels, or in the caves, shielded by living stone.

Sami’s mom and dad are long since dead, and her friends, Sef and Glyn, vanished without a trace, over a year ago, or were chased from the tunnel by the Judge. Now her dearest pal, Simma, was leaving, too, to live under the water in tunnel Tee Two, with her mom and her mom’s new boyfriend.

She used to feel safe in the tunnels. Used to feel at home. But now, she wasn’t so sure. There was something in the air. Her only friend left was her dog Scout, a tunnel stray who adopted her a year ago. And old Miz Murphy, of course, who lived in the hovel below her, deep down in Far Northend, the oldest dig in Tee Four.

For decades, crowds of people have waved through the tunnels, following the green arrows, pushing up and out Eastport, heading North. They heard the air was better there, and most didn’t like the tunnels one bit anyway.

But now, nobodies and someones alike were disappearing, and voices came to her in the dark, warning her of a great danger to come. Sami alone looks for answers, and discovers a world-shaking disaster of epic proportions.

I love to scare myself haha but I don’t like vampire and werewolf novels. I also read mysteries and I’m sad that some of these books are the pits. 🙂 I still have too many to read on my Kindle, but I can’t seem to stop myself.
