…obviously I meant BEFORE 1924. Oops!

Not all public domain books are listed on Amazon, but see http://gutenberg.org for “Project Gutenberg.” Anything published after 1924 is public domain, and you can search here by title or author. For children, there are books more geared toward girls (Loisa May Alcott or Lucy Maud Montgomery, for instance) or boys (H.G, Wells and Edgar Rice Burroughs, to name a few). I also downloaded poetry (for an Emily Dickinson report) – the sky is the limit! There are a few children’s short story collections also. Neat stuff.

Thanks for letting me know about the typo and thanks for letting us all know about the public domain children’s books.

FWIW, there are kids books in the public domain available on Amazon too. Alice in Wonderland, for one – and many of LM Montgomery’s books, a true pleasure for little girls worldwide (Anne of Green Gables etc).

Oh, also – you mean “available” not “avialable” 🙂 (sorry, can’t help it…)
