What happens when a small town girl moves to Hollywood to pursue her dreams and winds up smack dab in the middle of a murder investigation, haunted by famous dead celebs, and working for the biggest pop star in the music industry?

Introducing Evie Preston: Small-town girl and under-the-radar healer, currently trapped in a po-dunk Texas town but yearning for something more. When fate gives her the opportunity to move to Hollywood to follow her dreams, Evie finds herself navigating through the land of glitz and glamour, and the realm of (dead) celebrities…

Raised in Brady, Texas by her minister father and her beauty shop-owner mother, Evie has been trying to get out of town for years. When an old family friend gives her an unexpected gift on her birthday, Evie finally gets the chance to start fresh out west. Against her father’s wishes, she packs up her guitar, her dog, Mama Cass, and heads for California.

Once in L.A., Evie finds a singing gig at a local dive bar where she meets a slew of interesting characters including the owner himself, a former child star with a hidden past. She also scores a day job doing make-up for a famous and foul-mouthed pop diva. One of the job perks includes house sitting at a Hollywood Hills mansion. But what Evie doesn’t know is the house is also home to some famous celebrity spirits, including the essence of former Grunge rocker, Lucas Minx.

As if things weren’t complicated enough, Evie finds herself in the middle of a murder mystery and discovers she’s being targeted by some nasty spirits. And to top things off, she’s developed a Texas-sized crush on her hot, but very dead, roommate, Lucas.

Maybe her dad was right and the City of Angels really is the City of Devils–all of them after her.

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

I really loved this story. I could not believe it ended like it did. It leaves you wanting more and now I understand why. There will be a second book. I hope it is as great as the first! I can not wait until the next book. Hurry please.

*******

Refreshingly original. All of the characters have a good rounded personality. The reactions to ‘other worldly’ happenings are actually believable. Its refreshingly different…

First of all, I have to say I am typically NOT a paranormal OR mystery fan, so I was ever-so-pleasantly surprised when I picked up this book and ABSOLUTELY loved it from the first page. I am now totally a fan of Michele Scott and have started reading another of her books already.

*******

There are few books out there that are original by nature and this is one of them. From the first few paragraphs I was hooked, the story kept my attention to the point I didn’t want to stop reading it. I am now a huge fan of Michele Scott and will be getting the next in this series. I can’t wait.

About The Author

I grew up knowing I wanted to be a writer. I’m very close to my family and friends and I love being around them. I also enjoy talking with and being around other writers because writing can be isolating.

The other passion in my life are my horses. They nourish the soul and in many ways keep me sane. It’s a busy life. I have three kids, write full time, manage the house and sprinkle in a few more responsibilities in there and some sanity (or equine therapy) is needed.

I write books that I hope make people laugh a little, escape from the stress of day to day life and hopefully they feel a connection to my characters.

Something kind of funny and ironic about me is that I don’t know how to type. I hunt and peck, so my first drafts have tons of mistakes. I really wish I’d taken typing in school.

I love to cook, but hate to clean–but love a clean house, so every Saturday I spend my day cleaning house. I’m a creative cook and can never create the same recipe twice and this makes it hard for me to get down the recipes in The Wine Lover’s Mysteries just so.

Being a writer as a career is a very hard job. It takes a lot of patience, tenacity, a willingness to hear others say you suck, and a certain kind of masochistic personality because as I just pointed out–it’s not easy. However, writing for me is like breathing. It’s my life, like my family and my animals. It’s who I am. It’s my hope to connect with others through my writing. I hope I connect with you!

Thank you for considering today’s Book Of The Day – Michele Scott and ENT appreciate it.
