Today we have a highly rated Suspense/Thriller by Michael Wallace for our Book Of The Day. The Devil’s Deep has an excellent 4.5 star rating, is only $2.99 and has a ton of rave reviews!

“This is a well written book with marvelous characters – some good/some really bad – and they tell a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat with each additional page. This is one of those rare books where you want to tell the world you can’t do anything until you finish it. I highly recommend this book.” Carol D. – Amazon Reviewer

Chad Lett is a mute witness to an attempted murder. He suffers from total paralysis, locked within a prison of his own mind. After years of silence, he establishes contact with a young nurse’s aid through a single blinking eye, but then she is abducted and a staff member begins to administer dropperfuls of cleaning solution into his communicating eye.

A heart-pounding thriller that will stay with the reader long after the last page is turned, the Devil’s Deep is a top rated suspense that travels from the hell of a long-term care facility to the rain forest of Costa Rica. And a crime committed under tropical waters, the dive known as El Bajo del Diablo–the Devil’s Deep.

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

This book is much more than I expected. I had not heard of Michael Wallace until I real Devil’s Deep, but I can assure you, I will be reading more of his work. The story is one of passion, intrigue, mystery, deceit, love, hope, and adventure. From the very first page, I had difficulty putting it down. Each character in the book has a gripping hold on the reader. I found myself totally invested in the main protagonists and thoroughly enraged with the antagonists. This book is a must read if you like suspense, thrillers, or just a well written, well told story!

This book is fantastic. It is gripping and compelling all the way through, never losing urgency and tension. The mystery is revealed so carefully, never too much revealed at a time. I felt invested in the story right from the first page. Despite it being a thriller, the characters are well drawn, interesting, varied, and believable. The dialog is realistic. I’m sensitive to the pacing of stories and how much is told v.s. shown. I thought this book kept the balance of both those things perfectly. It’s been a long time since I felt so engaged in a story. I was completely engrossed all the way through. I’ve never read anything by Michael Wallace before, but I will be reading more of his work in the future. I am definitely a fan now!

I really enjoyed reading this book. The author brings enough insights into each of the characters to pull you into feeling and understanding them. This makes for an even more thrilling read, as you feel like you are on the edge of your seat, unable to stop until you know what happens, be it that they make it or that they are caught or punished. I couldnt stop reading, but at 4am,had to sleep, but woke up and continued until I finished. The ending was also great. Tied up all of the story very satisfingly. I look forward to reading more books from Micheal Wallace. Keep up the great work. Definitely worth reading!!

I just finished this book yesterday. I do not write many reviews here, but wanted to give my support for this book. The intrigue takes you from cold snowy Vermont to the tropics of Costa Rica. A great read on a snowy weekend in Michigan. Reading this book is like watching an action movie. It will get your heart pumping. The locked-in syndrome was a unique addition to this novel. I highly recommend it.

About The Author

I’ve trekked across the Sahara on a camel, ridden an elephant through a tiger preserve in Southeast Asia, eaten fried guinea pig, and been licked on the head by a skunk. In a previous stage of life I programmed nuclear war simulations, smuggled refugees out of a war zone, and milked cobras for their venom. I speak Spanish and French and grew up in a religious community in the desert.

I hope you enjoy my books as much as I’ve enjoyed my crazy life. I welcome email from readers at m.wallace23@yahoo.com.
