Most women will give him anything he wants. She is not most women…

As a well-known barrister and the son of a duke, Ives confines his passionate impulses to discreet affairs with worldly mistresses. A twist of fate, however, has him looking for a new lover right when a fascinating woman shows up in his chambers, asking him to help save her father from the gallows. Unfortunately, he has already been asked to serve as the prosecutor in the case, but that only ensures close encounters with the rarity named Padua Belvoir. And every encounter increases his desire to tutor her in pleasure’s wicked ways…

Having always been too tall, too willful, and too smart to appeal to men, Padua Belvoir is shocked when Ives shows interest in her. Knowing his penchant for helping the wrongly accused, she had initially thought he might be her father’s best hope for salvation. Instead, he is her worst adversary—not least because every time he looks at her, she is tempted to give him anything he wants…

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

Madeline Hunter is a master storyteller of Regency Suspense. She weaves a story filled with mystery, swoon-worthy sexy scenes, humor, and more. I am drawn to her characters and feel as if we could be friends —- or enemies!

*******

Once again, Ms. Hunter will mesmerize her fans with “Tall, Dark and Wicked”. Highly recommended. Fans of Regency Historical Romance, suspense, mystery and finding a HEA will enjoy this tale. I certainly did and I look forward to the next installment. Another awesome read!

*******

I love Madeline Hunter’s historical romances. The language is period appropriate, witty and clever. Sometimes historical fiction can try to be too modern with big sword fights, modern phrasing and crazy events such as abductions and elaborate chase scenes that seem unbelievable. Hunter always manages to make her stories interesting and her characters likable without resorting to stories that are hard to believe. I can’t wait for her next book.

*******

I was immediately caught up in this story and totally enjoyed it! I am now hooked on the writing of Madeline Hunter and will go looking to read her other books. What fun!

*******

Ms. Hunter seduces her reader with this tale of strong passions and romance, and two attractive, compelling characters, while maintaining the tension, suspense, mystery (and a bit of danger!), to keep one turning the pages to discover the “truth,” whether it will mean freedom for Padua’s father, and its impact on Padua and Ives’ relationship.

About The Author

I am a published novelist, a mother and wife, an art historian and a teacher. My first historical romance was published in 2000 and my bibliography shows the list of books since then. My books have been on the bestseller lists of the New York Times, USAToday, and Publishers Weekly (where I have also had three starred reviews.) I have won the RITA award twice and been a finalist seven times. My novels combine strong romances between layered and complex characters with plots that include mysteries or intrigues.
