In a narrative rich in humor and uproarious dialogue, Off the Reservation explores modern presidential politics and whether honesty can find a place within it.

Congressman Evan Gorgoni of Bloomington, IN, has served eight terms in a dysfunctional Congress and reached his limits of frustration. A medical event brings on the epiphany that there is no point in continuing to serve. But his frank expression, on Meet the Press, of his rationale for ending his political career is met with the unbidden call that he seek the White House—an unlikely destination for a vegan Congressman with a disdain for political posturing.

If he’s going to do it, he’s going to do it as no one has done it before …

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

This book contains a wonderful mixture of thought provoking ideas and humor. Just when I was ready for the next serious idea to ponder, Glen hit me with a one-liner that had me laughing on the floor. Then when I was looking for the next punch line, along comes another out-of-the-box proposal to solve a serious political or social problem.

I normally don’t read political satires but the book came highly recommended. What a pleasant surprise. A vegan president decides to become the first American President to actually tell the truth. The results are both thought-provoking and highly amusing. Talk about a timely novel. If life could only imitate art for a change.

Wow – talk about perfect timing. Glen Merzer’s book is about someone who accidentally takes on our cynical and depraved – and downright dangerous – political system. How great it is! I just had to read Off the Reservation when I heard it was about “talking truth to power” and is it ever! A fun and funny read – and just so right on! Great book.

I rarely laugh aloud when reading a book, but I certainly did with this one. I couldn’t wait to get back to reading it when I did have to put it down, and now that I am finished, I can’t wait for the sequel. The characters are well fleshed out and the wit in Merzer’s writing is priceless.

This is an outstanding and different glimpse into a race for President. Refreshing read with a cast of characters that makes one wish this was reality and not fiction. Well done to the author! Most highly recommended.
