Silent pain. Secret Scars.

When her parents divorce, Krystal finds herself flailing. She withdraws from family and friends and begins cutting because it’s the one thing she can control.

No one knows her pain.

Now living only with Mom, Krystal lands in a new school where she makes a single friend, Em. Together, they volunteer at a homeless shelter, serving soup and working alongside a diverse group with a few eccentrics sprinkled in.

Everyone has secrets, but who will understand hers? How will Krystal help others when her hidden scars still sting?

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

Wells is a gifted writer with a voice you don’t encounter often in self-published fiction. Her clear and compelling insight into pain and release bring the reader into a story that spins a message of faith, healing, and recovery, written from the perspective of a teenage girl and an author who has a genuine love for God and desire to witness. The evangelical message is strong here, imparting to the reader the imperative to seek God in the midst of trials as the only, and the ultimate, answer.

Such an amazing story of healing and love! This book deals with real-life struggles that many teens can related to. This was a wonderful, purposeful novel! I can’t wait to read more from the author!

Hheartwarming and at times heart-wrenching story about hardships, friendships, love, and hope. It is a powerful story, filled with realistic and endearing characters. I smiled plenty, laughed much, and got a little choked up a couple times. Although the story of Krystal involves some dark subject matter, it is the message of love that demands the spotlight.

Krystal’s story is a story that will inspire you. She has real-life struggles, family, self-destructive behavior, being a teenager in a troubled world, and most of all her relationship with God. Once you start reading this book, you won’t be able to put it down. This book shows how God can save a broken girl and make her whole again. God is Good!

There isn’t any sugar-coating in this well-written debut novel, but there is God’s love, hope, and redemption. Young Krystal is trying to cope with her emotional struggles by cutting. I don’t want to give away any more of the story but this is a must-read for all ages. C.L. Wells is a talented author you’ll want to add to your favorites.
