Inadmissible chronicles the unlikely story of a young Egyptian who emigrated to the U.S. in pursuit of the American dream, and how one mistake landed him behind bars along with some of America’s most notorious offenders. Against innumerable odds, he manages to survive prison and later earns his PhD from the world’s number one university—Caltech—becoming an accomplished scientist, writer, and motivational speaker.
The memoir chronicles the flaws in the American justice system that mark felons for a lifetime of discrimination, and immigration laws that rip apart families and leave the most vulnerable—the children—without parents. It’s the true tale of one man’s redemption and triumph, lived through believing in himself and believing in the good hearts of the people who stuck by him.
Here’s what the reviewers have to say:
Very well written story. It is shocking to see how far the arm of the USA can reach. Despite of it, Tamer was a great challenger of life, and he got what he wanted at least most of it.
What a glorious memoir! I am blown away by Dr. Elsayed’s courage and steadfastness throughout the telling of his story. He made a regrettable choice certainly. There was no malice. He has paid dearly for this error.
I found this book so captivating that I read it in a single sitting. Tamer’s story is unique due to his fine intellect but at the same time it is a common tragedy nowadays in the United States. In summary, the book is a great story, very well written, captivating, and revealing for those of us that are shielded from the reality a vast amount of Americans must face everyday.
Very interesting read. I couldn’t put the book down. It really opened my eyes to our judicial system. He is such an intelligent man, the type we would want in our country and yet we force him out. I don’t think the average person could have handled his situation so well. I am glad he is not running away from this any longer and hopefully his book and struggles will help others.
An exemplary story in resilience, courage, and unbreakable willpower. It’s a true testament to my favorite quote “only through being exposed to annihilation, the indestructible within self arises”. It’s true that we don’t choose our destiny, we actually create it. We are indeed the masters of our fate and the captains of our life journey.
