Rating: 4.4 Stars
Genre: Cozy Mystery
Sleuthing Sisters Mysteries series – Arkansas sisters Jenna Stafford and Carly Reece share a dry wit, an unshakable faith, and a regrettable tendency to happen across murder! When a friend offers Jenna and Carly a free vacation in exchange for some elbow grease, they dust off their cowboy boots and hightail it up to Branson, Missouri. Unfortunately, the glittering lights and twanging tunes make a perfect backdrop for. . .murder! Will the Drop Dead Diva be just the beginning, or can sleuthing sisters Jenna and Carly corral the killer before it’s too late?
Sisters Christine Pearle Lynxwiler, Jan Pearle Reynolds, and Sandy Pearle Gaskin are usually on the same page. And it’s most often a page from their favorite mystery. So when the idea for a cozy mystery series came up during Sunday dinner at Mama’s, they determined to take their dream further than just table talk. Thus the Sleuthing Sisters mystery series was born.
Drop Dead Diva is the second book in the Sleuthing Sisters Mystery series. Each book stands alone, though. This series has Christian undertones and a romantic thread. The co-writers are three real-life sisters (a fact that seems to fascinate readers.) The Sleuthing Sisters series is Jan and Sandy’s publishing debut, while Christine is a best-selling author with several award-winning novels and novellas of her own. But all three authors are essential to the writing process.
Here’s what the reviewers have to say:
Love this sleuthing sisters series. Wonderful to have a mystery to read without having to skip over gutter language and steamy sex. Good reads and kept my interest throughout. Can hardly wait for the next installment!
Really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more!! Story was well written and the characters fully developed. Can’t wait for next one.
Loved it, just like the first one. Can’t wait to finish the last one of the series. Hope they have written more.
This is the 2nd book in the series but I have not yet read the first. One of the things I love about this book is that I don’t HAVE to read the 1st book to understand this one. This book is very well written and easy to read. The narrator is real to life and relatable to average people. It had a pace about it that did not allow me to get bored or put it down.
Drop Dead Diva (Sleuthing Sisters Mysteries)is fun reading. The real-life sisters themselves love reading mystery books. And it shows: They have a real knack for keeping the reader guessing and hanging over the cliff until the very end. They definitely know how to bait the line and keep you hooked until they say we’re all done here and who-dunnit is at last revealed.

A four-time winner of the prestigious American Christian Romance Writers’/American Christian Fiction Writers’ Book of the Year Award, Christine has written seventeen novels and novellas for Barbour Publishing, including Arkansas, Forever Christmas, Promise Me Always, Along Came a Cowboy, and three cozy mysteries – Death on a Deadline, Drop Dead Diva, and Down Home & Deadly – she co-authored with two of her sisters.
Christine’s newest release, book two in her McCord Sisters series, Cowgirl at Heart, received a 4 ½ star review from Romantic Times and was an RT Top Pick for February, 2010. The Romantic Times reviewer had this to say about the new book–“This completely compelling and suspenseful novel will leave you wanting more. Lynxwiler puts you in the middle of the action, where you’re thoroughly engaged and where the scenes come to life. The dialogue and plot run at a smooth pace as she cuts between the various stories of the McCord household. Fans will not be disappointed and new readers will want to read everything she’s ever written.” This is a double honor, since the first book in the series, The Reluctant Cowgirl received similar accolades from Romantic Times magazine and was a Top Pick when it was released in April, 2009.
Thank you for considering today’s Book Of The Day – Christine Lynxwiler and ENT appreciate it.
