Claiming Victory is a funny contemporary romantic comedy that will appeal to every woman who still believes fairy tales can come true…

Victory Shackleford is a spinster, or at least well on the way to becoming one. She is thirty two years old, still lives with her father – an eccentric retired Admiral, and the love of her life is a dog.

She thinks her father is reckless, irresponsible, and totally incapable of looking after himself. He thinks his daughter is a boring nagging harpy with no imagination or sense of adventure and what’s more, he’s determined to get her married off.

Unfortunately there’s no one in the picturesque yachting town of Dartmouth that Tory is remotely interested in, despite her father’s best efforts.

But all that is about to change when she discovers that her madcap father has rented out their house as a location shoot for the biggest blockbuster of the year. As cast and crew descend, Tory’s humdrum orderly existence is turned completely upside down, especially as the lead actor has just been voted the sexiest man on the planet…

Full of romantic humor, Claiming Victory is a must for fans of funny love stories – especially quirky British Romantic comedies.

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

If you enjoy reading romantic comedy, you will love this one. The plot is well crafted and the characters are memorable and charming, the kind you wouldn’t mind hanging out with. The romance between small town interior designer, Victory, and Hollywood star, Noah is pure delight. I was thoroughly entertained from beginning to end.

Very satisfying balance of comedy and drama, light-heartedness and heartbreak. Ms. Watts neither allows her characters to wallow in despair nor to enjoy their love affair without everyday realities impinging. Such a nice change from absolute drama or silly comedy that isn’t balanced!

I love this contemporary English story! A gorgeous movie star, a funny girl, her best friends and a misguided, boisterous father. Beautifully written and totally worth reading. Beautiful!!!

Don’t miss this one. I am completely gobsmacked. (I don’t know what that means, but I like the word.) I intended to read it over the weekend, but couldn’t put it down once I passed the 25% mark.

Claiming Victory is an absolutely charming romantic comedy! Beverley Watts creates wonderful characters in Noah and Victory’s fairy tale love story. Looking forward to reading the next book in the Dartmouth Diaries Series!

About The Author

Beverley and her husband divide their time between a large flat overlooking the sea on the beautiful English Riviera (where it’s generally warm and wet) and an officer’s cabin on the west coast of Scotland (where it’s cold and wet).

Between them they have 3 children (2 grown up) and a menagerie of animals including 2 dogs (an Irish terrier called Nelson, plus a neurotic ‘Chorkie’ named Pepé) and two cats called Dillon and Honey.

Beverley spent 8 years teaching English as a Foreign Language to International Military Students in Britannia Royal Naval College which is the premier officer training establishment for the Royal Navy in the UK. She says that in the whole 8 years there was never a dull moment and many of her wonderful experiences at the College were not only memorable but were most definitely ‘the stuff of fiction’

An avid reader and writer since childhood, she always determined that on leaving she would write a book…

Beverley is currently writing a series of romantic comedies entitled The Dartmouth Diaries. Book One, Claiming Victory, is already available on Amazon and Book Two is planned for publication sometime in May 2015
