Finally, the first three books in the Better Off Dead Series have been compiled into a box set.

Killing Chase Volume 1:

Sometimes second chances can kill you.

From the moment he woke that early March morning, Chase Hampton knew, once he was released from prison later that day, he was never going back. No matter what.

Born into a wealthy but flawed North Carolina shipbuilding family, Chase was somehow immune to the dysfunction. The sky was the limit for the 18-year old football prodigy, until one terrible event changed the course of his life and prison became his new home. Through the highs and lows of his incarceration, there was one person he couldn’t forget, no matter how hard he’d tried: childhood best friend Bailey Masters. For reasons unknown to him, she’d shunned him ever since her mysterious return to Foggy Harbor at the beginning of their sophomore year.

Now, seven years into a twelve-year manslaughter sentence, Chase is given an unusual second chance, one that comes with its own set of rules. Suddenly, he’s thrust into a position he’s not ready for: the tip of the spear in a quiet war against an American enemy. A war that could cost him his family . . . and his life.

Giving Chase Volume 2:

The Road Home is Paved With Ill Intentions

Chase Hampton has a new life, a new name . . . and a new problem. He’s been found.

Nine months have passed since Chase’s old life tumbled forward in the worst possible of ways, replete with personal demons and those who aimed to kill him. Still, the unfamiliar peace of his protected days have him missing home, missing himself. He’d been a key player in saving the nations’s capital from demise . . . an unsung hero.

Now someone’s gunning for him again, someone who knows his past.

After narrowly escaping a middle of the night attack on his cabin in Echo Lake, California, his girlfriend is kidnapped, plunging Chase into a cross-country journey to save the woman he loves. The woman he’s been keeping secrets from. And she from him.

To save her, he can’t go it alone. A family friend, former Washington power broker Alden Daniels, takes him in and gives Chase direction. But will it be enough? If Chase is to survive and rescue her, he realizes there’s only one other person who can help. The person who wanted him dead nine months earlier.

Saving Chase Volume 3:

For Chase Hampton, fear is simply a four-letter word.

After Baltimore, the headlines labeled him an enigma. Unbreakable. Alone with his thoughts, he feels anything but. Most would crumble at the situations he’s faced. The loss he’s endured. Most people are not Chase Hampton.

Nine months after the tragedy, he’s tried to put his broken life back together. A new place to call home, new friends. A new purpose. But an old enemy remains. And he wants nothing more than to take Chase out and deny him the one thing he wants. Needs.

Elizabeth Gibbons has moved on too. Though she still loves Chase, the wounds from Baltimore are still fresh. The wall around her heart solid . . . until Chicago goes terribly wrong.

Enter Avery and Gabriella Brennan, the brother/sister team who run an outfit specializing in solving problems. They’ve taken Chase under their wing. As events unfold, Chase realizes there is more to them than meets the eye. Will their shocking secret force him to betray their friendship? Will Boston bring Elizabeth and Chase back together or drive an irreversible wedge between them?

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

By far the best series of books that I’ve read in a long time. Mr. Muse is an extremely talented author, and I can’t wait to read more!

Definitely would recommend. Hope there is more to come with Chase and family. Didn’t want it to end… although it doesn’t leave you hanging, just wanting more.

*******

This book has a very compelling and enticing plot throughout, but the last chapter of the book was exceptional – requiring a vision and writing skill level that is rare. Review of Killing Chase

*******

I could go back and read all three of the books in the Better Off Dead Series again – Muse is just that good! Can’t wait for more by this author!

*******

A very good story of the unexpected. Dealing with the good, bad and the ugly can be full of a whole lot of surprises. Chase has a lot to deal with but once he meets Elizabeth his life gets a little better for a time. Then it takes a turn for the worst but thankfully they are able to come back together live a much happier life.

About The Author

Ben Muse is the author of seven novels and one children’s book. A lifetime Georgia native, he was born in Atlanta and suffers from an incurable case of the y’alls. He resides in Acworth with his wife, children’s book author Angela Muse, their two children, and one demanding English Springer Spaniel.

He can’t paint, sing, or play a musical instrument so he’s opted to write. Hobbies include golf (terrible), traveling (hates to fly), and self-deprecation (excels here), and he writes whenever time allows. When he does put pen to paper, one question is always on his mind: Is this a good investment of the reader’s time? He’s just finished his first foray into romance (oh my) with Matters of the Heart, and is nearing completion of a sequel to Arnco entitled Made of More.
