Mansfield, New Jersey, is burning up building by building–each fire more devastating than the last–and it’s Irish born police detective Jamie Keegan’s job to bring the “Firefly,” as the arsonist has dubbed himself, to justice. He balks when his captain orders him to consult the beautiful and enigmatic India Cook, who has offered her services as a psychic to the police department.

Jamie doesn’t believe in India’s ESP. The fact that she doesn’t like to be touched–that’s how she reads people–is only more of a challenge, because she’s just about the most smoking hot woman he’s ever met. Convinced she’s a con artist, Jamie tries to deny the chemistry simmering between them as they work together to stop the Firefly before he can strike again.

A Burning Touch, Book 1 of the Hot City Nights series of steamy contemporary romances with urban settings, is a full-length, professionally edited romantic mystery with no cliffhanger. It can be read and enjoyed independently from the rest of the series.

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

Found this story quite easy to read. I had a hard time putting it down. The whole idea of someone having the pain and mental problems from the psychic side of her personality was so out there, I felt so sorry for her. It was definitely an interesting and intense read.

*******

Great plot, interesting characters, crisp dialog, all in all a very satisfying book. More story than sex and packed with suspense and romance. This one takes you through all the emotions.

*******

Different for Patricia Ryan – more contemporary but an absolutely mesmerizing tale! You have to cheer the handsome detective Jamie who is totally incredulous of the lovely India and her gift of sight. The harder they try to avoid and wriggle away from a relationship the more embroiled they become.

*******

Excellent romantic love story. I couldn’t put the book down it was so good. Patricia Ryan is an excellent writer. Great descriptions.

This is one of my favorite of Ms. Ryan’s books — probably because it has a paranormal thread to it. India is a great character, and the whole arson story really stayed with me long after I’d finished the book. This one’s a keeper and I’m going to read it again.
