“Overall, I think what I really loved about this book was how the author defied casting people into roles of ‘good’ and ‘evil’. Characters who are generally good sometimes commit thoughtless acts, and characters who are villains of the most despicable kind can change or can be kind to the people they love. This made the characters much more rounded, and more unpredictable too which kept me engaged right until the very last page. I am really looking forward to reading the rest of this series!” – Anna Clare

Controversial and daring, Shadow on the Wall details the transformation of Recai Osman from complicated man to Superhero. Forced to witness the cruelty of the Morality Police in his home city of Elih, Turkey, Recai is called upon by the power of the desert to be the vehicle of change. Does he have the strength to answer Allah’s call or will his dark past and self doubt stand in his way?

Pulling on his faith in Allah, the friendship of a Jewish father-figure and a deeply held belief that his people deserve better, Recai Osman must become The SandStorm. In the tradition of books by Margaret Atwood and Salman Rushdie, Shadow on the Wall tackles issues of religion, gender, corruption and the basic human condition. Beautiful and challenging, this is not a book to miss.

“This was a fun, adventure of a story and I liked how Bryn was the reluctant hero. … I enjoyed all the Norse mythology and how Tee integrated it into the modern day world. This is a creative novel and will appeal to fans of mythology, adventure and paranormal romance.” – Jessie H.

Bryn Halbrook had always seen the glow. But it is only when her best friend dies that she discovers the meaning of those beautiful golden auras—Death. Alone, lost in the foster system, she struggles to understand who she is and why she was cursed with the ability to see the soon-to-be-dead.

The new foster kid, Aidan, isn’t helping any. Mr. Perfect seems to fit in no matter what, making her feel even more pathetic. But when his affections turn to her, Bryn finds him hard to resist. Bryn stands at the threshold of a journey of discovery. Will destiny help her find herself, find her purpose and her place in a world in which she’d never belonged?

Wanted: Dead or Undead
by Angela Scott
Rating: 4.6 Stars
Genre: Western/Zombies
Price: $0.99 Save $4.00
Make sure price is still 99 cents before clicking “Buy”.

“I should probably preface this review by warning you that I don’t care for Westerns, or Zombies. The fascinating thing about this, is that Angela Scott has managed to combine them into a story that I absolutely LOVE! I had so much fun reading this book, and somehow couldn’t wait to find out what happens next while hating that each page was bringing me closer to the end of it (is the sequel out yet? when can I read THAT?! Pant, Pant, Pant)” – Rebecca L. F. “BookWorm”

Trace Monroe doesn’t believe in luck. He never has. But when a fiery-headed cowgirl saunters through the saloon doors, wielding shotguns and a know-how for killing the living dead, he believes he just may be the luckiest man alive. Trace wants to join Red’s posse, but she prefers to work alone–less messy that way. In order to become her travelling companion, Trace has to agree to her terms: no names, no questions, and if he gets bit, he can’t beg for mercy when she severs his brain stem.

He agrees, knowing only that Red is the sharpest shooter he’s ever encountered. The fact she’s stunning hasn’t escaped his attention either. What he doesn’t know, is that Red has a very good reason to be on top of her game. She not only has the answer for how they can all outlive the plague taking over the wild, wild west, she IS the answer.

Davey the Detective (A Bird Brain Book)
by Emlyn Chand
Rating: 4.8 Stars
Genre: Children’s Picture Book
Price: $0.99 Save $3.00
Make sure price is still 99 cents before clicking “Buy”.

“My kids are too old for Davey, so what do you know, I read this little book for my own pleasure, just for the little kid in me. I grew up on Busy, Busy World by Richard Scarry and Uncle Wiggily, by Howard Garis. Davey fits right in with those old classics.” – Frederick B.

Davey dubs himself the luckiest crow in the entire world when he finds a wonderful, shiny object. It even has a fantastic name: “paperclip.” Wow! One dark and dreary day, Davey’s treasure goes missing, and he is beside himself with grief. Luckily, he knows just how he can find out which of the forest animals is to blame for the theft. Inspired by the torn pages of a Sherlock Holmes story that were used to fashion his nest, Davey calls on the help of Sarah the sparrow to investigate the mystery and, hopefully, retrieve his prize.

Together the two birds begin to collect clues. Their trail leads them straight to Mr. Bushtail, a greedy squirrel who keeps a giant store of objects in a hollowed-out tree trunk. When Mr. Bushtail refuses to cooperate, the two birds have no choice but to break into his tree house in search of the truth. Justice will prevail and treasure will be found in this intriguing tale of mystery.

For children ages 3-6.
