Raindrop’s World
by Carl Pettit
Rating: 5.0 Stars
Genre: Children’s Book
Price: $0.99

“The book is full of surprises from an ant worried about an imaginary armadillo, to a bird obsessed with leaf cutter ants as well as a lonely dung Beatle trying to find his way in the rainforest. I recommend this book for children and even adults, because of the heartfelt story and beautiful prose.” -RFMdias

Raindrop’s World is a collection of illustrated vignettes that come together as a whole story. The individual stories, which include The Imaginary Armadillo, Raindrop and the Kapok Tree, The Beetle and the Tree Frog, and The Explorer’s New Home, tell the tale of two leafcutter ants and one very determined little beetle venturing out into the Amazonian Rainforest. They’re searching for an extremely old, and wise tree frog. Raindrop, the tenacious ant in charge of the expedition, urges her friends on. She has a long list of questions that she wants to ask this tree-dwelling amphibian, but with the onset of night, she might be disappointed. It’s up to Little Clay, the lone beetle among the ants, to carry on and find this enigmatic frog. When at last he does, the advice he gets isn’t what he’d expected at all.

“Wow! Absolutely loved it. This is the first work I’ve read by Sheppard and I can’t wait for more.” – Author Kirkus MacGowan

When the apocalypse came, it wasn’t like anyone expected. There wasn’t a nuclear holocaust, or zombies, or World War 3. There was only a well-intentioned experiment to unlock the human mind. The experiment worked, and people got what they wanted: psionic powers. But they soon found out that some things weren’t meant to be discovered.

Dez Marlowe has been traveling the Wastes alone for longer than he can remember, fighting wild, blood-thirsty Scavengers and avoiding empath hunters. Like everyone else, he’s just trying to survive as best he can in a chaotic and lawless world. Tired of aimless wandering, Dez gains entrance to Detroit, now a walled city ruled by the iron-fisted dictator Terrence McHale. Instead of peace, however, Dez only finds more trouble in the form of a lovely girl who just happens to be Terrence McHale’s only daughter. She’s run away, and Dez finds himself volunteering to go get her.
