Florida’s most mismatched law partners are back in this Edgar-nominated tale. A Coral Gables blueblood, Victoria Lord plays by the rules. A Coconut Grove beach bum, Steve Solomon makes up his own, starting with: “When the law doesn’t work, work the law.”

The action starts when a boat runs aground in the Florida Keys. Aboard are a thousand hundred-dollar bills and two men, one shot by a speargun. The other man is Victoria’s “Uncle Grif,” who desperately needs a lawyer…or two. But Grif, charged with murder, is a lawyer’s worst nightmare, a client who keeps secrets. Just what is he planning in the Florida Keys and why would he kill an investigator for the Environmental Protection Agency?

The tale roams from the streets of Miami to a waterfront nudist colony to a Key West courtroom with Solomon and Lord – squabblers extraordinaire – fighting all the way. Will they succeed in defending Grif? Will they learn the truth? And will they end the case as partners and lovers or enemies and litigants?

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

Thank you Paul Levine for being so funny, so talented, so easy to read, so much more than I could ever ask. LOVE YOUR BOOKS!!!

*******

The Deep Blue Alibi is fast-paced with a believable plot and the character development is awesome. The book draws you in and makes you feel like you are there watching the mystery unfold. Levine’s writing in this thriller is down-to-earth and capturing;it literally kept me awake reading much longer than I had intended….that good….an easy 5-star rating!

*******

The Deep Blue Alibi was the first book by Paul Levine that I have read but it will not be the last. The plot kept me interested until the end. The characters, Solomon and Lord were my kind of lawyers, fun and interesting with just enough romance. I look forward to reading more in this series.

*******

If you enjoy a Grisham-type novel and the irreverent Florida-based humor of Carl Hiaason and Tim Dorsey, you’ll enjoy this Paul Levine tale. This is my second (Kindle) read in the Solomon & Lord series and I have to say Levine creates extremely likable characters in Steve Solomon, his father and his nephew, Bobby and Victoria Lord. No doubt I’ll read the entire series.

*******

DEEP BLUE ALIBI by Paul Levine is a winner all around. The mystery investigation and court scenes are intellectually stimulating and correct with a real “got chya” factor. The humor between the characters is sophisticated and down right raunchy at times, but wonderful to come across as the book unfolds.

PAUL LEVINE worked as a newspaper reporter, a law professor and a trial lawyer before becoming a full-time novelist. Obviously, he cannot hold a job. Paul claims that writing fiction comes naturally: he told whoppers for many years in his legal briefs. His books have been translated into 23 languages, none of which he can read.

He has won the John D. MacDonald fiction award and has been nominated for an Edgar, a Macavity, the International Thriller Writers Award, and the James Thurber Humor Prize. More info at www.paul-levine.com

What’s new? “Lassiter” and “Last Chance Lassiter” are Paul’s latest entries on Kindle. “To Speak for the Dead” continues its bestseller status more than 20 years after its hardcover publication.

Writing in USA TODAY, Larry King called the Lassiter series, “Mystery writing at its very, very best.”

To Speak for the Dead
Night Vision
False Dawn
Mortal Sin
Riptide
Fool Me Twice
Flesh & Bones
Lassiter

Thank you for considering today’s Book Of The Day – Paul Levine and ENT appreciate it.

When seven-year-old Ethan du Maurier, only son and heir of New York City real estate tycoon, Alexander du Maurier, disappears during school recess, the FBI quickly determines that his disappearance was an abduction. Within hours of a special news bulletin airing nationwide, the FBI’s hotline is inundated with anonymous tips relating to sightings of a little boy matching Ethan’s description outside a historic Savannah building, now a newly-renovated eatery.

The FBI quickly assembles a task force and searches the premises but instead of finding little Ethan, they stumble upon the century-old remains of what appears to be a murdered man hidden in a pirate’s tunnel under the historic building. With her restaurant on temporary lockdown pending the FBI’s forensic investigation, owner Annie Eastwood researches the history of the building she inherited, hoping it will shed some light on the identity of the murdered man, but what she uncovers are bits and pieces of a horrible scandal that nearly destroyed the du Maurier family over a century ago.

With hopes for Ethan’s safe return dwindling by the hour, Annie finds an unlikely lead in an old classified ad from a Boston newspaper which connects the events of the past to the present-day abduction of Ethan du Maurier—and to the identity of his abductor. Determined to rescue little Ethan before time runs out, Annie quickly realizes that the boy’s abductor will stop at nothing—even murder—in order to exact his revenge.
